Or to us Old School been playing Battletech since the clans first invaded, we know it as the Gargoyle, and the Hellbringer, Ice Ferret and Myst Lynx... oh, and it is Warhawk not Masakari...
OK I digress, I prefer the Clan designations for their mechs, but at least I do not insult people who don't use the same name
On a side note, the continuous asking about the atlas rear firing streaks is annoying, and was answered on page 1 or 2 guys, dont ask questions if you aren't going to read the thread where most likely your question has already been answered, btw, Russ said they will be flipped forward, NOT rear firing

Hi,
Maybe not the correct place for the comment but ...
" Ghost Heat, Guass Charge, Jump Jets, Etc... these are just punishments against good pilots using their skills against mediocre players who don't want to learn the skills necessary to keep up"
I disagree. All of these were not "punishments against good pilots" ... they were adjustments made to change the meta game in terms of what the MOST effective mech build might be. I believe that most people acknowledge the issues with high pinpoint alpha (front load damage) meta builds and high alpha builds in general. They reduce time to kill substantially ... and although there is a very rewarding feeling when you wipe out an opponent in a single shot ... it isn't that much fun on the receiving end.
So ... all these changes now require MORE skill to be an effective pilot. Instead of a single perfect shot you need three. There are lots of excellent pilots out there who do this all the time. Working around these constraints is not a punishment for skilled pilots ... it is actually a bonus ... skilled pilots will still do a lot of damage and are very effective. It is the less skilled pilots who relied on one shot kills ... who often miss their target otherwise ... who are most significantly affected by these changes.
We are going to have to agree to disagree on this. For instance. I don't follow the Meta. I don't go surfing on forums to figure out what the best build's do for the most amount of damage for my play style. I do that on my own. =] However, I digress let me get to my point.
Adding the Guass charging mechanism cannot be construed as constructive because (as you pointed out) it still has the ability for pinpoint damage. And it still has the same amount of damage as before. However, now you have extra charge time for a weapon that, once destroyed, blows up and causes extra damage to your mech. Not to mention the tonnage that is sacrificed for ammo, and the ungodly weight of the weapon itself. The only plus to the Gauss rifle at this moment is that you don't require CASE for the ammunition as it fires a solid slug. So to run a Gauss rifle you have weight, damage capacity (to yourself) ammunition dependency, and now a charge time. So why the extra charging time? Simple, people were using them effectively (taking the time to learn the weapon, and sacrifice other weapons weight for (in my opinion) a long range line of site weapon that now takes more time to utilize. Any player worth his/her salt can relate that seconds matter in a long range shootout. We sacrifice the vantage of cover to line you up, and fire our weapons. Critical seconds that it takes to charge the weapon gives ample time for mechs to find cover.
I only started using guass rifles again (since the nerf) with the release of the clans. It is frustrating for me (and others whom I play with) to have to charge a weapon, and not fire it in time. Lights & Mediums already have the advantage of greater speed, now its just that much harder to hit them. They sacrifice protective armor, and internal structure for greater movement & maneuvering capabilities.
I agree with you that it is easier to kill them with a shot, but this can be do to piloting errors as well.
1. Are they already damaged? 2, Maybe they shouldn't stand still, or blatantly run out of cover in the midst of a heated firefight. 3. The only time I have one shot killed ANY mech with a Guass Rifle is when I got lucky with a head shot. (not at all an easy task, and I am without a doubt, a very fine shot) With this in mind, can you agree with me that this is now an unfair advantage for people who use Gauss Rifles? Shall we now make assaults and heavies faster to compensate? This is part of what I am trying to tell you. Yes this is a game of skill, but not when you stack the odds one way or another. The weapons already had its flaws. Now we just stacked more on top of them. It can only be seen as punishment.
Now let me get into the "META" (An acronym that fails me to this day, but I get the idea) We are talking about a Battletech game, are we not? This game has various appealing game play options. The one I will concentrate on for this discussion is this. You pay a lot of money to "customize" your mech, and make it the most effective, versatile, killing machine that you can for your play style. Correct? Some of you will argue with me that this is against the cannon. Please do so. I have been playing the TT ever since I was a child. It is NOT against the cannon. In simple terms, if you had the money. You could redesign a mech from the ground up. Granted. It costed A LOT,but it could be done, and was done frequently in many of the hundreds of games I enjoyed in various communities. Parts and availability did play into, but only to the point of "how much are you actually willing to spend" and "did you have the money"
You are absolutely correct when you said this is a game of skill. However, I will reiterate. When you hamper an opponents abilities to use a component, by going outside of the normality of a weapon or devices nature & design. You are in essence "Punishing" them. Need I mention ECM?
Here is a breakdown for you that might help clarify why MANY of us are frustrated with the current mechanics of the game.
1. Light Mechs. Small, Fast, Hard to hit slippery devils that sacrifice armor and weapons capabilities for the increased abilities of speed and maneuverability. (under heavy fire, they are going to get splatted) When I pilot a light. I get to sneak up and use tactics to take out an assault. I know I don't have the ability to take much damage, so I need to utilize tactics in my play style to be effective. (which I am) I cannot try and brawl in this mech.
2. Medium Mechs. These Mechs who are still fast (just not as fast as lights) have additional armor and weapons capabilities. Some may mount heavy weapons (AC20, Gauss Rifles, Etc..) However, they still sacrifice armor and to a point weapons. for enhanced maneuverability. I have more armour, but im nearly as fast as a light. I use strafing and hit and run tactics to hit hard, and move out of danger. Again, I am not a brawler. But I can still hit hard. I just can't take many hits in a prolonged firefight.
3. Heavy Mechs. Mechs with improved armor and weaponry. They sacrifice speed and maneuverability for greater firepower and longevity in firefights. I hit hard, but I'm not very fast. I use assaults and terrain for cover. I can sustain in a firefight, but I need to be careful not to become light mech bait. If I am ambushed I am as good as smoking salvage. I have decent speed, and heavy damage capacity. (pun intended)
4. Assault Mechs. The titans of the battlefield. Slow, Bulky, not very maneuverable. Heavy armored and patronized...WEAPONIZED! I meant to say weaponized! (auto corrected, but I like it so I'm leaving it) They sacrifice Maneuverability and speed for a higher damage threshold, and capability. I can brawl. I can jump into a fight, and I can dish it out. However, If a light or medium get behind me, or hit me from a vantage point. Or multiple mechs target and fire me up. I'm toast, and another notch on someones belt.
You see the problem is not the META. The problem is the game. Players are rewarded for doing the most damage, and kills by money and experience. I understand this is frustrating and I am not disputing that. PGI needs to have greater rewards for roll warfare, or make the winnings even across the board. That way any player whether they decide to play in any class gets the same on the winning or losing team. It took me years of playing all of the Mechwarrior games to learn to be a good pilot and play to the advantage of the mech I was in. Knowing where to hit a mech is just as important as shooting at them. I love killing mechs torso's when I know they have a probability of running and XL engine. This made me a good pilot. (in my mind anyway, others may dispute that) I can kill other players effectively in any class of mech. Instead of being frustrated with the game if I lose. I should be frustrated with myself.
So in conclusion to my long winded speech, which really has no business on this thread. And if removed no hard feelings. I understand. LEARN TO PLAY. Don't hate the Meta, hate the game ~Grins.

It probably has already been asked and answered but I can't read through 60 pages of feedback and could not find information anywhere else in the forum.
My question: Do I get the Atlas-S when I just bought one a la carte Clanmech or do I need to buy a collection?
The information given from PGI is not clear with this. The Anniversary FAQ says that it needs to be a collection while some other post just name the a la carte mechs.
Thank you for helping!

What are the eligibility requirements for each reward item?
•King Crab: Have purchased a Legendary, Overlord, Masakari, or Man 'o War Collection
Does this mean that if you purchased more than one of these packages you will receive multiple King Crabs, one for each package. Or does it mean that if I spent a lot more $$ for multiple packages my reward is the same as the guy whole spent way less $$ on just one package?

The latter, unless you bought a packages under an alternate account.
