When people's definition of 'fun' is "the easy button that lets me get as many kills with as little effort as possible" yeah, it does need to be 'ruined'. Also, feel free to take your snide condescension with you as you leave. Feel free to keep that superiority complex going though. You're going to need it since loosing your easy-win button is going to shrivel your e-peen that you're furiously trying to keep up.

I second that.
Be sure not to let the door hit you on the way out, Sand-in-your-pants. Btw, they never said there would be melee weapons, and it is spelled MASC, not mask.

They cannot seem to fathom that sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, and there's always another match to be played.

These Gifts are awesome, they are giving back to those whom have supported them, as well as fixing a wrong done to the original founders of MWO which is quite big if you think of it. Most big MMO places when they make a mistake 1) Never admit to it, 2) never do anything about it.
I think that action alone speaks volumes for this company and is the reason I will support it.
(Well that, and I need to play at least until we hit 3053 so I can get a Bushwacker).
So in a roundabout way, Thank you PGI for giving back to your players.

I'm glad you asked. For one, if you look back at some of the very first pages of this thread, I congratulated PGI for turning the game around. I thanked them for the restored hope I had for this game, and looked forward to playing my new mechs. I qualified for everything except the founders mechs. The only reason I didn't qualify for the founders mechs was because of financial issues at the time they offered it. (family first, responsibility, all that jazz) Then I log in after the last patch, and find that my clan mechs speed has been reduced.
The only reason I purchased them was so I could play CW with my brother. I am an avid IS pilot. Who endured years of torture from my older sibling for playing "Inner Queer" as he used to put it. So before people assume that I am a clanner, understand you are dead wrong. However, I digress. Now let me answer your question.
Paul Inouye wrote these in the Clan Technology Design Perspective before the clans were released.
I want to ensure you that we will still allow the Clans to have their unique flavor without any type of knee-jerk, heavy handed Nerfing.
It is due to lack of this rule set, and the fact that forcing players into a fixed way of doing battle would just not be fun
I never would have purchased these mechs, or talked my brother and friends back into playing had I known that the clan package would have been so severely reduced in efficiency. In retrospect, I couldn't have foreseen that CW would have been completely one sided as in you have to play IS or Clan. (no deviation between the two) Had I known then, what I know now. I wouldn't have purchased the packages for myself, my wife, and my brother. Nor would I have gotten The second wave package with the most recent "balances" that are planned. My brother and wife are debating of opting out of playing MWO. They may have just left. THAT is my problem.
In the thread that I have posted for you to review it clearly states no heavy handed Nerfing. Yes, Yes, I can see they say they will balance them. But you cannot tell me that the recent reduction in speed to mechs, the CERLL Ghost Heat, The upcoming forced JJ allocation to Timber wolves, and the Guass/PPC initiation are not "heavy handed"

Obviously, You have never played with me. When I am rolled in a 12 to 0 match (in the other teams favor) I don't get upset or yell, or curse other players for being pathetic (such as has happened to me at various times) I congratulate the other team with GG. No, I am not being asinine. I love to see a true victory. Not a Pyrrhic Victory where it is a close game. But true honest to god, coordination and skill. I mean after all this is a skill based game right? So please do me a favor and read up if you haven't already done so.
I am an IS pilot. I have always, and will continue to be, an underdog. In my opinion their is no such thing as "Over Powered" I'm not talking about getting angry because I don't get 6 kills a match. Because, I usually do get 4-6 kills per match. But when i do something stupid and end up smoking salvage because of it. I don't try and force other players into a specific play style by crying about it, and wanting the developers to change the design mechanic to my favor.
No, I don't like an easy button. But I do like my equipment to function the way it was intended too. ECM, Jump Jets, ERLL's Guass Rifles, Ghost Heat, Engines, Command Modules, Etc... Need I go on? I get anywhere from 1-6 kills per match in my Raven 3L. It is equiped with 3ML and 2SRM2 and an ECM. Now am I really going for an easy button? Try again.
Cimarb
LOL! That is truly hilarious. Did you think of that all on your own? Or did your unit help you come up with it? Convoluted and small minded as usual. Read between the lines, I was daring to impose the fact that future elements of this game will be just as twisted. Was my spelling and grammar correct? ~Grins Wickedly
Uminix
You have my attention. I'm sorry that my irate analogy of the current status of this game was such a brain teaser for you. Let me state it as simple as I possibly can. They said their wouldn't be any heavy handed Nerfs for the clans. Have they held true to that statement? No, they didn't. Was that easy enough for you?
Shadowbanex
Well Spoken! Except that your under the assumption that I want an easy victory. Look up^ No, what I want is the Clan Invasion for CW. I want a Full three lances of IS mechs that have inferior technology beating the scrap out of Clan Stars, and then I want the honor of being able to rub their noses in the fact that I kicked their posteriors when the odds were stacked against me. One thing that has always got under my skin is when people cry for balance.
"It's not FAIR!" they exclaim Tell me something. How can a raven defeat a Dire wolf? Simple they use their superior piloting skills. So lets be honest, is it fair for the Raven, or the Wolf? And does the game, truly need balanced. The weapon does not make the warrior, the warrior makes the weapon.
For example I am going to once again bring up Poptarting. (this is rapidly turning into my favorite subject) Lots of people scream "oh my gosh, that so unfair, Devs we need Balance!" Really? I don't poptart. Never did! Gods Honest Truth. But I miss it. They were such easy targets. They go up, and they come down. Its so easy to lead their trajectory downward. In my opinion poptarting was not an exploit. It was a genius maneuver-skill that took pilots lots of time to hone.
How did the community react? Come on, you know how you all reacted. You all cried about it being an exploit instead of taking a moment to think and realize. Ok, they got me with the first shot. The next time they jump. I'll blast them in midair!
Anyone who couldn't, must have slug like reflexes. I loved the easy kills they provided. They were oh so easy targets.
My frustration with PGI is that in one hand they gave us all these nice rewards. I'm not disputing that they aren't nice. Nor unappreciated. What I am saying is that they offered us candy in one hand, and slipped in the engine nerf (once again, I am not talking about the upcoming engine Nerf) I actually think the upcoming engine Nerf is a WONDERFUL idea. I'm speaking about the one they just slipped in for Clan Mechs. So you see. It devalued the essence of their customer appreciation.

Clans were implimented and it quickly became apparent that they were too powerful and they needed to be changed. People can complain about it all they want, try to imagine advantages the other side has to make their position seem worse (Grass is always greener), but it still doesn't change the fact that Clans need nerf since PGI seems to unable/unwilling to introduce a 10 vs 12. Perhaps if they were able to then the changes made to the Clans wouldn't have needed those nerfs, but that didn't happen so changes needed to be made.
That said, I'm also an US pilot. I don't own a single clan mech and probably never well. Thing is I also play other mechs that are quite a bit lower on the tier list and I don't play meta builds.
There are bad decisions that have been made (I think the Clan ER LL ghost heat was a bad idea. They want to fix it, just put them back to 12 heat like they are in Table Top, that would solve that particular issue), but the solution to that isn't what you posted above.

I hear you about the Clans. I agree everything needs to stay competitive. My problem with all of this is that I have never had any problems taking out Clan Mechs. It's hard for me to understand why people are so upset with them. From day one before any sort of Nerf hit them. I was taking out the clanners, the first match I took out a DW and a TW. =]
I can see your points. Would you care to help me in an experiment? Pick any Tier 5 mech from each class. I will purchase the mechs (if I don't already own them) and see it through to mastery. I will try and beat the clock for the upcoming buffs to the quirk system. (this way no one can say that I didn't do it with substandard equipment) And take it into battle. If my piloting skills aren't enough to make up for the technology difference. I will be honest and post a formal apology for my views. However, if I am right. You will help me spread the word that balance isn't the issue, and it predominantly depends upon a pilots skills. I will even play only in PUG with my one to two remaining unit members. Sound like a deal?
I don't agree that ECM makes you overpowered. The only thing it does is make you less likely of becoming missile fodder. I don't even depend on ECM like i used too. With the release of radar deprivation (Thank God) it is easy to duck behind cover and let the missiles fly by. The only time I truly have a problem is if I am hit with TAG or NARC, or caught out in the open.

Any guesses on how many DW kills I have in them?

Less than some would have you believe - but a lot more than the "Clan Tech is OP" crowd would be willing to believe.
(Which, admittedly, even 1 would qualify for some of them
