I used to think this mech would be overly powerful with the dual A/C20s, but then a few things made me change my mind...

1: Ghost heat
2: Low slung arms
3: Rather large hitbox arms (vulnerable)
4: It could be the IS equivalent to the Dire Whale, but worse due to IS A/C 20 range limitations.

I still think this will be a good assault, but it has some drawbacks that will stop it from being an all powerful god on the battlefield.

So you're saying the the mere idea of the King Crab being in the game can take out 2-3 mechs by itself?! PGI please listen to your customers and nerf this beast before we are all doomed!

Seriously, when are PGI going to start listening to their customer base?

It's pathetically OP and can take down 2 or 3 other mechs straight away, with no trouble at all.

Nerf this please.

It hasn't even been released yet... and already people are asking for nerfs.
Yet no one asks for Jagermech nerfs. And so many people are against burst fire ACs for the IS... yet... that's the one and only reason a King Crab would EVER need a nerf. Because IS ACs are front loaded damage.

Where one shot from two of them can instantly headshot any and every mech, provided the pilot has the ability to point at it.

To mention it...
If the King Crab is designed as Alex originally drew it...

(the 'middle' crab.)
It would be a walking LRM magnet that LRMs could NOT possibly miss no matter what form of cover there is (so long as it's not inside a tunnel).

It will truly live up to its name as a Hangar Queen, because it will never be able to leave as a huge, walking sponge for LRMs, artillery, and any top-down weapons fire.

And while we are putting the kingcrab under the knife, It should get an ink pouch to help it escape its enemies!

Relative likeliness of the effectiveness of a King Crab brawler build.

Note: The tonnage differences in maximum tonnage to weapon tonnage are about equal with this 85 ton Clan Warhawk and the 100 ton IS King Crab, as would be the ammo limitations.

First few minutes: Positioning. 3 minutes in: First engagement. 5 minutes in: How to kill a Timber Wolf. 8 minutes in, NO AMMO!

(Edit: 5 minutes in not 6 for how to kill a TW.)
Just add some massive pinpoint to it. So it'd kill quite a bit faster.
But that has NOTHING to do with the King Crab, that's a problem with IS ACs.

On a side note: The King Crab will damage soak just as bad as this thing does, and with an IS XL engine...heh.
The King Crab won't need any nerfs.

It's the crab kaiju rocket punch that does it for me. It's not enough that it can burrow into the soil to protect itself, but really, rocket claws? No mech should be able to gut my StormCrow like the robot at the end of the incredibles. Leave the lion head attacks in Voltron, goddamn it.

Get your house in order, PGI! I've heard this mech can stand against a DireWolf for at least 6 SECONDS. That's PLENTY of time for it to prime those mighty claws.

Just wait for the dual Gauss builds. It's gonna be a hoot.

Also, what a heartbreak for the KGC and Annihilator to fight for so long and then get popped by a HD hit.

It's the strangest thing, but I do not even know if this mech is IS or Clan... (Yes, I am a heretic, I know)

There is no need to nerf the King Crab. Just nerf the Inner Sphere AC/20 and Gauss.

A Madcat MKII is no Madcat/Timber wolf. To me, it was made so Heavy pilots who were Timber Wolf fans could pilot an Assault sized Timber Wolf. Feels cheap.

Maybe. Gauss is fragile and the arms are probably easy to crit. Besides, arms of an Assault don't move as crisply as arms of a Heavy.

Its really hard to say until we can try it.
