Experiencing issues, including desyncs?
Do you run Avast perchance?
  • Open Avast
  • Go to Settings
  • Under the troubleshooting section, uncheck the box for "Enable hardware-assisted virtualization".
  • Reboot your system to complete the change
Please let us know if this resolves any issues for you, and which!

I have another AV but tried to disable it to give a try. Got desync in the first match. It was small but still 2-3 sec.

Well i do have Avast! So I'll give this a shot. It's rare that I get a DC, but when I do I need to exit the match. It never reconnects.

I'll give this a shot and post results.

ive had AV for years and i dont currently have dsync problems at least not related to MWO.

but my license for the year did expire so the live protections are all off.

Can I just add the path to MWO as exclusion ?

I am not running avast but I have noticed fewer desyncs. As a rough estimate, I am probably gone from 2+ big ones a day down to a small one every few days.

Any chance the free AVG antivirus added a feature that interferes with MWO?

Niko, just have the guys check what data is being sent to/from players/server when a player disconnects from the game.

That seems to be the trigger most of the time.

One guy disconnects, and BAM! multiple players get de-synced.
Happens more on particularly stompy games, where multiple players disconnect at once.

We have had an issue some time ago when it was Avast and AMD CPUs and the Players should disable Hardware Virtualization in their Bios if i remember that half way right.

I use Avast since Vista was released and the Desyncs have appeared and peaked only a few weeks ago and seem to have almost gone away by now.

If antivirus software is potentially causing issues then would it help to set an exclusion for the MWO install folder, or is this more of a general issue?

I stopped using Avast years ago. Microsoft's own security solutions are enough for everyday life.

seriously if you guys are still using AVAST then their is something wrong with you, it causes massive amounts of issues and errors. had AVAST for years but swapped to Microsoft as for once its the better solution

edit AVG are just as bad, these used to be decent anti virus but they made some terrible choices and are seriously not worth installing, AVG got forced to create a removal tool a long time ago.

Avast causes the least issues for me - Kaspersky, AVG etc. on the other Hand cause huuuuuge amounts of trouble...

I run Avast and this setting was already turned Off.
I have De-syncs but only small ones and rarely as compared to my friends.
my only common one is the inability to press R to lock targets.
