Has anyone noticed that the gauss rifle explodes way more often than it should. Whenever I have it mounted in an IS mechs torso it explodes every single time. I have never once had one explode in a clan mech. In my IS mechs, charged or not, If you breathe on it wrong, poof! There goes most of your torso!

It's set to a 90% chance, but with only 5.00 health (compared to 10 health of most items). It also occupies a fairly decent number of slots, which means it's more likely to get hit by a crit than most weapons.

Does seam to happen a lot more with IS mechs. I have had it happen a few times with my dire. Got to remember there are cases all over the clan mechs

Are you crit buffering your Gauss with gauss ammo? You should fill all the rest of the crit slots in the same location with gauss ammo. That way the gauss ammo helps absorb the crits.

Clans get CASE everywhere (That means arms too), and CASE protects against the Gauss explosion just like ammo. The chance to explode is the same, IS or Clan. The damage is much more significant on IS due to the lack of CASE in arms and the Clan XL engine ability to survive a lost side torso.

What they need to do is make sure that an uncharged gauss weapon doesn't 'explode'.
Uncharged capacitors aren't explosive (I'm not aware of any capacitors being all that explosive), and there comes a point when you're out of gauss ammo that you CAN NOT charge your gauss rifle, so again, it shouldn't blow up.
Anyway that's my thought on it.
