Well imo a ECM nerf is needed, but at at the same Time indirect Fire of LRMs should be nerfed aswell!

I'll keep taking cover, and mostly not taking damage from LRMs.

Deal?

But will your teammates? It's easy for experienced players to claim they will take cover, but bad players and inexperienced players will not. What happens when your team loses 4 mechs at the start of the match due to lrms? ECM is a good way to help those that don't have the skills necessary to deal with lrms.

The OP is correct. Nerfing of ECM will lead to the complete and total domination of lrms. Those that think it wont because of their superior lrm dodging skills will be shocked when it actually happens.

The only Nerf I would see as being valid would be longer Lock on time/faster lock drop. To simulate the modifiers from TT.

You will lose as should happen. If you cannot learn to get out of the rain... Sorry not my problem even IF they are on my team.

Hopefully I will run into some of the naysayers in this thread at some point.

Not likely. I dont really feel like losing that many matches to play against you.

I mean, I periodically run into people who don't take cover when getting pulped by all kinds of stuff. Some people are just bad, or just have bad matches from time to time - and that would happen even if LRMs did not exist. I'm not sure why people somehow care more when it's LRMs versus UAC5s or CERMLs or Gauss or whatever else.

If only 6 people out of 12 have AMS, all LRMs are useless, simple as that. No ECM can change this.

in the past it took 6 AMS to shoot down a LRM15-20. I don't think AMS has had that much of a buff to so shoot down say a flight of 80+.

That "in the past" part is very important. Remember, AMS now shoots for much longer distance and we have special modules to make them even more effective. Today 6x AMS is more than enough, trust me. In the past though, it was a wasted tonnage which may be while so many people ignore it even today when it is usefull again.

Oh it was never wasted tonnage. Unless you expected it to be some magical missile defense. AMS was/is good against Missiles One was never meant to completely stop a single Missile System. They were only meant to ease the pain. That we link AMS here is a vast improvement from TT. And one I was happy to see. Its a drag when its shooting down MY missiles and a blessing when shooting down yours. ;)

Lots of 400-500 dmg games, I'm not even counting those.

.

What's your W/L?

I'm working my ELO higher. I was in negative numbers, I'm up to around 1.15 now. Would be higher if I dropped in team, but I solo drop 99.9% of the time.

That should be high enough to get me into the top bracket considering I do have 12 man teams as my opponents even when I'm solo dropping sometimes.

Anyways dude, stop making weak excuses.

What time do you come on, normally?

The process is still in the starting phase collecting peoples views of what works and doesn't along with forming a PC.
This process will take weeks before anything get put to a vote.

Oh nice, a screenie with my name on :)
And matching the thread title (sort of) I was in my LRM-LOCUST. Extreme damage assured (nearly 200).

Honestly, with the reduction in shake LRMs will be nerfed. Currently the ECM bubble is all-absorbing in Pugland. I'd say reworking ECM is... nice. And our participation too.

It boggles my mind when people say.. "LRM BOATS DONT WORK, GUYS. WE NEED TO NERF ECM TO MAKE THEM WORK AGAIN".

What alternate reality do people live in that they can't get decent scores with LRM boats?

:D

Saying "I don't find LRMs to be drastically overpowered" is not the same as saying "LRMs are weak and unusable."

Pfft. You don't even know how PGI is going to change the ECM, if at all. Create this thread after you see the actual change.

Yet it is as innacurate.
