Hmmm... would Harmony Gold even be able to issue a suit if PGI both redesigned and renamed the mechs, i.e. 'Archer' becomes 'Bowman' (which I know is a rather meh Hell's Horses mech, but there's no reason the IS couldn't use the name as well, right?)

Oh and if you've been paying attention you would notice that I haven't actually been pushing for the return of Phoenix. I wouldn't mind if it did but my point is changing the rewards to be based on money spent.

If somebody pays for 300 bucks worht of mc, it's not that big of a stretch to just spring 240 for the Masakari pack

Something that seems to be missed here. The King Crab is not included in the pack. It's a "Thank you!" gift from PGI for the people who did top tier funding of their project at various times.

Ask yourselves this: If PGI had just released the KC as an anniversary gift, but their was not currently a pre-order package available, do you think we would be having this discussion? Or would we simply have a group of people happy at their windfall?

It might just be better to allow players to pre-order the King Crab directly.

I mean the Phoenix pack was for players that were early adopters. I feel like if they do this, then I should be able to buy a Founders pack and get the founders badge (after all I've been here since closed beta).

I do not support re-issuing either Founder or Pheonix mechs with the alternate geometry or special paint jobs. It's pushing it to do a partial re-issue at all, given that it would no longer be a pre-order (which top-tier preorders are what the King Crab is ostensibly for).

Better would be for PGI to keep the special King Crab reward for future pre-purchases over the coming year (as a sort of ongoing 2nd year marker). As they issue new packs, if you get the top tier, include the special King Crab as an added incentive.

The nature of the King Crab is that it is a top-tier award for pre-purchase packs. Only pre-purchases should qualify, not post-release reissues or what-have-you. Incidentally, the Clan Invasion pack is still a pre-order until the final Clan mech is available for c-bills, so the fact that it remains available for purchase as a qualifying pre-order is entirely reasonable.

If IS-only players want to qualify for the special King Crab (and aren't content to purchase the regular King Crabs when they go live), then they should be asking PGI to sustain the King Crab bonus award until the next IS pre-order pack is available. There are a great many potential packs that PGI could generate: Clan Buster, Invasion Response, ComGuard, etc.

So what you're telling me is that somebody that spent $300 shouldn't get as much as something that spent $87 because reasons... Yeah sorry I still think my idea makes more sense and don't see a reason to not do it like that.

You do realize that I am making suggestions for changing that right? Telling me what PGI is doing when I clearly know that doesn't really serve a purpose. And saying something like, this is just how it is, isn't a counter to a suggestion.

Bottom line is that those rewards are for people who did something in particular

It may not make sense to you, but those rewards are for people who supported the game at a certain point, it doesn't invalidate your support at all, but that's just how it is.

It's sad this whole thing is causing such a storm and backlash....it really is.
Only thing I can't understand is, why give an IS mech away with a clan package possibly? Only those that bought the PP and Saber can actually do the whole pure IS thing....many of whom are displaying a disgusting attitude towards the whole affair. Some of whom are excrutiatingly smug about it.
I for one, will be getting a KC just not on this account...so my clan alt gets an Is mech I'll never use lol.I WILL get the reward but I can see the IS purists point and those that couldn't afford/or simply hadn't started playing yet.
What I don't understand is, the attitude being sprayed around by certain groups of people. Take a step back, taker a long, slow realistic look at the situation and ask yourself: Does it REALLY matter THAT much? Is your EGO really that important?

I put forward an idea that a charity would benefit from, an idea I pm'd Russ with-but if that don't suit why not one of the other ideas that perhaps others who have spent a certain threshold might get it, or perhaps own a certain amount of hero/champion mechs. After all those people still have supported the game and PGI-some of whom have spent way more than the PP/Saber people have. If PP/Saber people get it-why shouldn't the other people?
Is that so very crazy? Why advocate a position where LESS people benefit, just to reinforce your own "special" position.
Let's make this farce a "we" and not an "us" and "them."

Or you could graciously accept the fact that you do not qualify for the KC gift mech, accept your other 2 free gift mechs and move on with the determination to purchase the NEXT IS Mech pack.



If the KC gift mech means that much to you, consider wave II, Even a stalwart IS defender like your self could enjoy them in PUG matches.

I wouldn't mind it if they made a few changes so that they don't get all the good stuff we did. Take away all the premium time, useless medallions, etc etc and just give them the mechs for the same price we paid earlier. This would still provide incentives to buy them on release instead of hoping for a future re-release.
