So I was looking at this DWF Prime loadout was wondering exactly how hot would this thing run?
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...f0ec8b15383170e
How many shots of 4 would I be able to get off before this thing shutdown?
I know it won't be many but I thought I'd ask in case someone has tested it.
Thanks.

Not after ghost heat.

Maximum heat cap for that build is 88.08, per the Smurfy "Weaponlab" button. With ghost heat, firing 4 C-ER large lasers will give you 59.20 heat, so, you get one shot before you need to cool down again. Chain firing, or firing in pairs, will allow you to shoot them more frequently, but you'll probably find you aren't operating efficiently.
I would not personally put more than 4 C-ER large lasers on any mech.

Just noticed your build is different. That would put you at 67% heat. I don't think you would cool down enough to get off the second shot safely.

The 4 CERLL one will still get pretty hot on most maps after a full salvo.....I wouldn't even try any more than that.
Besides 4 CERLL/2 CGauss is very strong.

BTW, I haven't tried running this build since the CERLL nerf/buff, so I don't know how well it runs currently.

Define "continuous". In my 4 x CERLL build as long as I chain fire slow enough to not trigger Ghost Heat I think on a hot map by the time I get to #6 I need to relax for a bit. Cooler maps this MAY stretch to 7 but at either way I can't maintain a steady stream of lasers for more than a few seconds.
It isn't usually an issue though (unless I'm significantly outnumbered which means my slow ass is dead anyway so its time to just maximize your damage before I die) as when most people come under fire from my 4 CERLL/2 Gauss Dire Wolf they either run or try to poptart me (foolishly I may add. I will take one to give one because mine is bigger) so I don't need to keep the lasers up for long.

Im pretty much trying to build something that I can pop up, fire a high alpha and then move out the way.
I dont want to fire the alpha and shut down while in line of sight.
I was trying to at least get a couple of shots in before I shut down just in case someone got close.
I was looking at the PPC's for the DireWolf but that would be even worse than the ERLL.
Back to the drawing board.

I currently run these 3 builds:
DWF-Prime: 2 x CERPPC/2 x CGAUSS my average damage in this is the lowest of my 3 DWs but its kill to death ratio is by FAR the best. I guess chalk it up to the advantage of "Pin Point damage". Both weapons are arm mounted but no LA actuator is viable in this build.
DWF-B: 4 x CERLL/2 x CGAUSS my best average damage by far and 2nd best K/D and win ratio to the "Prime". On this build originally I had the stock omnipods so all 4 lasers were in the left arm. After I added "A" right arm for the actuator (makes a HUGE difference in getting more hits) I became much more effective with this build. I also changed the setup two 2 lasers in each arm. Of course the Gauss rifles are torso mounted still so you ahve to get used to the two reticle system.
DWF-A: Really this is my "*******" DW. The other two are so strong and this one has a few less hardpoints so finding a third build that was equal to them was hard. I've changed it up a lot and my stats in it are accordingly no where near as good as the other two but I have found somethign I lke even if it may not have the raw power of the other two builds since it has indirect fire ability. I mount 3 x CERLL in the right arm and a CGAUSS in the left. I run AMS and put 2 x Artemis LRM-15s in the left torso.

I did the 8 ERLL one and found it to be manageable and fun in a idgaf kinda way. Ran it with a TC to get the extra optimal range and zoom/crit.

Also ran a 2 Gauss 2 LPL 2 Mlas way back when the Direwhale first was released. Had a good amount of success in it. Don't know how well it would work now with the changes to the Clan Lasers.

One of my favorite builds I've been running is this stupid thing.
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...10686c0034bae44
3 UAC10s and 4 Mlas. My compromise for the dakka wolves. I just need some sort of non ammo based backup weapon.
Last one I'm going to link is what I'm currently messing with. It runs pretty damn hot but it's manageable.

Most of the time I'm just using the PPCs but the Las are there for utility. LLas for long range poking of people that are moving and the Pulse to give me a shorter range low heat thing to hit weak points with.

If you like lasers, try 8 CMPL 4 in each arm, tc 7 rest heatsinks, you run undertonnaged but witt both, CMPL cooldown and range module, it feels awesome. And a full alpha does NOT even overheat you. but chainfired is still better. lots of fun to play it like that and it does also work quite nice.

It would be possible to make something like this with a Nova Prime, but you'd have JJ and more speed too.
What do you think?

crank out laser damage till ur gonna overheat, then switch to ballistics, gauss preferably, or UAC5's. either one have low heat output and do decent damage over time. most players cringe at a gauss hit, or at multiple ac hits, so it takes pressure off.
i used to love 9x er med lasers and 3x UAC 10's before heat nerf. so much damage could be produced in such a short time, it was ridiculous. blowing arms off worked best.

Stupid build, ghost heat @ 2 lasers, 8 never did and still doesn't make sense.
Merely a build for people that don't understand the game to make and laugh at.
Also, lasers are a shadow of their former self, so keep that in mind.
And for the people suggesting firing 2 + 2 + 2 + 2, I don't even have room on this page to explain how idiotic that is.
But it's OK, keep running builds like this, I enjoy doing 1,000+ damage and winning 50+ games a night undefeated.

In my opinion, turning a DW into a laser boat is a sin, and should be punished.
(edit: same goes for putting LRMs on it)
