I'm glad you chose not to open founders to everyone. I wonder if people would be fine with a founders and phoenix upgrade promotion that would allow original members of those programs to upgrade their tier.

A new IS mech pack would be sweet tho.

Now that does sound reasonable. As long as you bought in then I personally have no problem paying to upgrade.

Urbie, with Deputy Dawg the prime with bonus!

lol, you could create a hero version of the Black Knight, "White Knight"

I'm reserved about the Reseen/unseen mechs. It might strike up a lawsuit, I can understand PGI not wanting to get close to that with a 10m pole.

If you're already offering the King Crab, and people want an $80 IS pack to go with it. I got only one answer.

Clanbuster pack.

Hussar (200, 350, 400)
Wyvern (5N, 6N, 9N)
Champion (1N, 2N, 3N)
Black Knight (6, 7, 9)

Come on. $80. Only 4 chassis needed. King Crab is already one of them. They are mechs with lore-based variants made in response to the Clans. And you guys are roleplaying as Comstar. It only makes sense.

HOWEVER. I do know that it would be an absolute PAIN. IN. THE. REAR. to introduce them without the 3052 variants due to the sheer difficulty of making those bloody hardpoints work.

Case in point.

Spoiler

So just concede. Say someone leaked info about Star League mechs Comstar has been keeping hidden for centuries, and that they have been given advanced prototypes that have yet to be tested, but are now being pushed into service against the Clans.

Either way, whatever you release, I'll buy.

I feel like bringing back any of the packs would be a slap in the face to the people who had the good faith to invest in the game in the early goings, why now should people who chose not to get them be suddenly allowed to pay less and then get the same rewards as the rest of us?

They should have to wait for the MC an c-bill release, then maybe next time a pack comes out they will be more inclined to buy it because of potential future rewards. Letting them buy a cheaper pack at the 11th hour isn't right.

As long as it does not slow down CW, map making, or development on future improvements to the game (like the possibility of single/co-op missions), I'm all for the idea of a new IS mech package, and I would love to see an Urban Mech and some reseen designs.

I see no Marauder or Urban Mech in those packs...your opinion is invalid sir!!! Good...day!

Not Super fond of a New pack. Reasons?
  • We're just getting pounded with New packs.
  • We have an overabundance of IS 'Mechs ATM, most of which need massive quirk passes and tweaking to be playable.
  • They have the option to buy in on Clans right now to make it.
As it is, the King Crab is available for MC In December, yes? At exactly the same time as it's to be injected in game? Why the worry? the C-bill bonus?

If you make a new package it really should not included the King Crab out of fairness for those who get the crab from showing previous support...

That said a way to circumvent this would be to provide 2 options in the package (either) King Crab (so those that are clamouring to get it can) or another alternative assault mech so there is a bonus for those that already have the King Crab from the 1 year offer - dedication = more rewards.

This way you provide ample opportunity for those who would not initially support PGI (or could not afford it) the chance to do so, while not kicking those who did give full support in the $%#$.

It really would be worth considering reasonable bonuses for founders though; these are players that have been through the thick of it and back again. My hat goes off to any founder still here, supporting the game!

I sympathise for those who may not have been able to buy a previous package due to timing/money so think providing these players with an opportunity is fair, but do not for those that refused for other reasons e.g. QQ'ing and raging about the game.

You made your bed, sleep in it. Dedication and commitment = rewards. We paid the price, now we get we get the reward.

Light: Wolfhound (finding enough variants might be a problem), Javelin (don't really have a missile based 30 tonner)
Medium: Assassin or Vulcan or Crab (would be funny to introduce the Crab and the King Crab at the same time)
Heavy: Flashman or Black Knight (would prefer Flashman)
Assault: Either Cyclops or Mauler (would prefer Mauler)

Excellent Question that I knew would come up quickly.

No at this point with the new Map production process it would not effect the production of Maps or CW, however no I do not believe we could get this done by the same Dec 16th deadline.  If there was interest we would need to meet and schedule internally but it would almost certainly need to slip into the new year guessing a date beyond that would be irresponsible at this point.
Even if you can't have mechs out by the Dec deadline might you have a Package promo before then? EG a set of IS mechs that may not hit the front line till the new year but people are able to order in advance to also get the "founders type" King Crab. Kinda like how we knew about the Clans ages ago, but offering the "founders type" King Crab as a type of extra early buy in reward.

I'm not interested in buying a mech pack at all at this point, let alone the $80 option, but I appreciate what you're trying to do here. Keep the goals realistic for everybody, and help let the players guide the process a bit.

This is one of those situations where having launcher/in-game polling would be really useful to feel things out from a broader playerbase. While this obviously would take resources of its own and you don't get the sort of two-way discussion the forum can bring, it's definitely a worthwhile investment to judge raw interest.

That all said, it would be cool to know if you had any chassis themes/sets in mind for this promotion.

No more new mech packs for now. Otherwise nothing is going to get done in the rest of the game. Just this year we've already had $360 worth of mech packages. Enough is enough for now, time to give your customers and your modellers and marketers a breather for a good 6 months.

I don't think there's honestly enough whales left to support another $100 package, and I say that as a whale, though I'm not as large of a whale as some around here seem to be.

To the people who say there's been too many packs:

Yeah there has been a lot... all clan packs though. We need some variety! Many people want to drop money on packs but don't want clan mechs. Fill a niche for us PGI!

Make it the Archer, Marauder, Marauder II and Warhammer and you can charge $240 Russ :)

My understanding is the King Crab will eventually be available for everyone so I don't see why this needs to happen though. As long as it doesn't interfere with community warfare's time table though I say go for it.

I started after Founders and Phoenix so I am out of luck there. However I got the clan package so I am good to go. Would I buy an IS package...probably. But I really need y'll to wait a bit. Too many mechs too quickly. Unfortunately I see a new shiney and want it. The King Crab will be available for MC/C-Bills in December anyway.

I think it Is probably time to implement a business model based on either a 3 or4 month release schedule for packages. Spread it out.

Russ,

This is definitely a step in the right direction.

Would I like to know more?

Absolutely

I'd buy the pack immediately if it came out.

Offer the Crab up as a Hero mech with a different skin for MC on the 16th. I don't agree, although would probably buy a new package, that taking time to put this together right now would be good. You have to put together meetings and yes even that little time takes away from production. I would offer up a hero mech dec. 16th and with the next IS package the exclusive skin people missed. I would care it you gave the skin away for buying a top tier later on. What chassis do you have in mind? Can you give us a hint.....please?
