Releasing packages too often would make customers like myself to pass on that... Too many mechs too fast is just too much. I already have highest tier package (or two) but would still like to support MWO with bigger amount. But not that often... IMHO releasing a high tier package now would be kind of arrogant. Especially if there are mechs I'd love to see ingame asap (like Marauder, Archer)

I'd say missing out on those high tier packages was their choice at the time and well... sorry to say, but too bad

^This !

Having packs for a limited time is essential to give it more value.
Tha Clan Wave1 is already close to 1 year now and we just got Wave2 that will be around Dec.
Re-starting an old pack (F or P ) is out of the question IMHO.

Adding a new IS pack right now might be too soon.
We have a lot of people who didn't get a pack because they had not enough money.
If you buy one big pack per year, you can excuse the amount of money/month to be a good price, but if you need (want) to buy 3 packs in one year, just so you get one extra mech for "free" ?

If this is all about the King Crab, then it should be just a "bonus" for the previous "supporters".

If we are talking about a new Pack without talking about the Crab, ... it can wait for eastern when the Clan stuff is done and people are getting new money.

That said, there are possible packs, depending on the theme.

Totally depends on the chassis. We have plenty of mechs to choose from already, more of an abundance of them, actually. More mechs is totally not what what this game needs in the first place. It's the lowest priority already.
Surely, some iconic mechs will still squeeze a buck out of the BT fans, but..
We need the rest of the game, not just two hundred mechs on five arena maps.
And it's hard to believe that production of the mech assets would not interfere with the production of the assets needed for CW and new maps.

The level and quality of communication is skyrocketing! Major kudos for that Russ and PGI.

Since I don't know how such a package would effect development in other areas it's hard to say if I want you to prioritize it, but here goes.

1. I would pay for a 80$ package if it was at least 5 new mechs including the King crab x 3 variants so you could elite them. Less content than that and I would personally wait for cbill release.
2. I'm pretty sure that an a reasonably priced la carte King crab package with 3 variants and some goodies would be popular, even if I personally would rather buy a bigger IS package.
3. It is MORE important to me that the existing IS mechs get their awaited overhaul with meaningful positive quirks and buffs to make as many as possible competitive in the upcoming CW. IF that is delayed by a new package I would much rather see focus on balancing the current mechs first. From a business perspective, I (and others too I suspect) will probably NOT buy an IS package unless you first show that you can balance the existing mechs. The point is that if you DO balance existing mechs first the IS crowd can then trust you in delivering new competitive mechs, but if you DON'T we will suspect that many of the new mechs will be crap and not buy them.
4. An overhaul of information and role warfare to bring those aspects up to par with the combat is also much more important than new mechs for me. Same goes for new maps, game modes, CW development and so on. Quite frankly I am much more interested in playing the mechs I already have in a more meaningful setting than I am in getting new mechs. I am much more likely to pay/grind for new mechs in a more complete game that I am now. (and you can confirm that I'm quite willing to spend on this game)

TL:DR: I will buy a IS package IF the mechs are new AND there has been significant progress on gameplay and balance BEFORE it is released.

EDIT: Oh, and I have no problems with you doing a re-release of the phoenix package or any other old package. I wouldn't buy it myself, but I can't see how there is anything wrong with offering something to those who want it if it isn't a major time investment. As a general principle I don't give a damn either way about deals that I don't want. As with the gold mechs I just don't understand the complaints, as all I needed to decide was to not buy it myself. Your pricing is excluding lots of potential customers, but that's a choice on your part. All it means is that I don't buy most of what you're selling, and I think you are throwing money away, but morally there is no problem.

Now i am very much neutral on the matter. I do not care much for the KC as a mech and neither am i overly attached to my founders status and i care jack about the phoenix exclusivity. I bought both packs because they where good value and/or gave me something i wanted.

I have no real problem seeing them relaunching any of the packs but i can understand that others do feel more strongly about it.

That being said i would also live a new IS pack. The roleplayer in me could not really buy a clan pack (did pick up a TW on it´s own but that was a economical decision) so a new nice and shiny IS pack with goodies. Me like.

II want to hear your thoughts now on this, because it takes significant resources to develop one of these packages and we would need to have some idea on what the support level would be, how many would be interested?

First: Great work! You identified a new, recurring topic in the forums & addressed it clearly. You let us know exactly where we stand, and are now asking for our opinions.

I would like to see the king crab available to everyone via c-bill in a manner identical to the wave 1 clans; that at a certain date (1~3 months) after it is given out, then it can be bought for MC for 1 month, then in turn bought for c-bills.

If this is happening, then I see no reason for there to be 1-2 sales for IS purists to get it as a "free" reward.

The Tarantula is somehow special. (see it behaves like a normal mech -to have 4 legs didn't alter the way how it is piloted.

As lore - Quads don't have torso twist, but they can strafe - so two complete differences.

This is right. Quads work in a different way.

But to clarify: they won't add the quads not because "it's hard to program", but because there are so few (not-unseen) quads in the timeline that it wouldn't worth it.

If the Heavy Mech is either the Champion or the Lancelot, preferably the second one, i'll buy at least the heavy tier, unless the light is the UrbanMech, in which case i will not buy anything.

It needs the Urbanmech.

My plan has been to purchase Clan Mechs, grind IS mechs (lower entry point, with buying upgrades in stages) due to time constraints.

But an Urbie. I'd buy it in a heartbeat.
Make it an Urbie, Crab, Annihilator, and a slowish Heavy.
Call the pack 'Creeping Death' or something, with a black motif. :P

HAHA right - there are exactly zero quads in the timeline that are not unseen (although) the blizzard gunner aka Scoripion and Crab Gunner aka Goliath are both from Dougram (like Beamer, SHS and T-Bolt)

I would love a new IS Mech package. Anything from the 2750 or 3025 Technical Readout would be nice!

A good idea might be releasing 5 IS packages for every house with the start of CW, including colors and patterns for the Mechs. The mechs could be a mix of new chassis typical for the houses or new versions of old chassis.
I really would love to see the ECM house Liao variant of the Cataphract for example. It would be a nice counter to the Hellbringer which is a heavy with ECM, isn't it?

Or what about a Star League Package with mechs only from 2750 Technical Readout? With a special Star League Paint job and Colours?

Most of the Mechs in the 2750 Readout are really ugly, but if you put a good designer at it, the result might be a very unique style just as the Clan mechs have their own style.

Hooray for MWO!

Although I think a new IS package would be great, I'd rather see resources devoted to CW and the long term of MWO instead of new chassis that do exactly the same thing as the existing ones. With all the customization we have now there's no real need for new mechs that do the same thing we already have (except maybe the urbie LOL :P )

As for bringing back the Founder or Phoenix packages I think it would be grossly unfair to those that purchased them. I'm a founder but I'm not an overlord... so take that into consideration. My Founder's mark is a badge of pride that I helped test the game, offered closed beta feedback, bug tested systems and have been playing since the very beginning. Phoenix purchasers are in a similar boat as it was the first package for those that couldn't buy a Founder. So, bottom line, I agree that it needs to be something new.

(And don't forget that the Legendary Founders package was $120 for only 4 mechs :o )

In regards to the point of the post....

I'm a little mystified why people would want to have these programs, which they decided to not purchase when they were offered, returned to availability only because of a single mech reward which they will be able to purchase eventually anyway. Paying a minimum of 80 USD for a package that isn't desired to get a mech that will probably cost only 50 USD (maximum for hero and two variants) seems counter-productive. Not only that, but even if a set of new IS designs were brought out (which probably should be the case as a concurrent option for any future Clan set....since players are being required to choose between IS and Clan for the actual game, it's only fitting each get a similar mech at the same time), they wouldn't be ready for purchase until after the King Crab is already in the game, nullifying any kind of advantage in timing.

Aside from all that, it does seem like the case that people are asking for the appreciation reward when they didn't decide to do what earned the appreciation in the first place, now that they see the reward (and only the reward is important to them, not the appreciation). Similar to a man on the street who has refused to give a kid on h street some money, but upon later seeing that kid giving others who did so free tickets to a sports event in thanks, saddles up to the kid and says "Hey, I know I said I wasn't going to give you money, but can I do so now? Then you can give me one of them event tickets, right?".

All in all, I don't see the point. Just wait for the mech to go on sale, then pick up the Hero version when it comes out.

As a Clansman I say :

YES !
Give our esteemed enemies from the IS more toys to play with and especially give those that want it the opportunity to get a
"Re-Founder" / "PhoenixReturns" / "what ever you are going to call it" -pack and the very special goodies accompanied with it .

Bindings and rings an´ such tings, y´know ^^

Excellent Question that I knew would come up quickly.

No at this point with the new Map production process it would not effect the production of Maps or CW, however no I do not believe we could get this done by the same Dec 16th deadline. If there was interest we would need to meet and schedule internally but it would almost certainly need to slip into the new year guessing a date beyond that would be irresponsible at this point.

pls don't re-release founders or phoenix... that would violate the "exclusivity" of it...
