I recently posted something about this. I 1v1'd a Timberwolf not long ago. Only mech I came into contact with and I had no damage taken from any other sources. Just him an I in this particular location. Needless to say, I was destroyed. My damage done however, was 542... all to him mind you...

Something is definitely wrong with that picture. I should mention, I was in my DDC.

You did 542 damage and spread it all over, when instead you could have easily removed one of it's legs with 1/5th of the damage?

Shoot TBR legs, you can't spread leg damage and the mech will be crippled.

How many months has it been and people can't manage to figure this out yet?

Best way to down a TBR. Once you take away the mobility, the mech is easy pickings unless you want to get stupid and face tank it.

They never figured it out shooting up zombie Centurions, never mind Clanners.

So all I have to do to roll faces as a Timbie pilot is to hide my legs down the ramp while exposing only my upper torsi? Simple enough.

2xC-ERPPC+4xC-SSRM6 TBR-PRIME are fine to me.

Actually, there is no sence to nerf clans now, instead would be fine if IS got such equipment and weapons like:
  • - PPC extra capacitator, 1 tonn, 1 critical slot, +5 damage, +5 heat.
  • - Binary Lazer Cannon
  • - Arrow IV
  • - Gauss extra capacitator, 1 tonn, 1 critical slot, +5 damage, +5 heat.
  • - Lazer extra fussion cammera, 0.5 tonn, 1 critical slot, +2 damage, +2 heat.

I basically only pilot Atlas.

And unless I am not using trash variants like AS-K/AS-RS, Timberwolf never caused significant problems unless i willingly faced it on long ranges.

Atlas has a lot of armor to compensate to a degree vs any Clan mech, unless it is Direwolf. (OMFG FFS NERF DIREWOLVES! PAUL, WHAT IS THIS P2W YOU MADE. NERF CLANZ OR BULLOCK, YOU WILL NEVER SEE ME PLAY THIS FREE GAME AGAIN)

But how long are you going to be there hiding your legs until someone works their way around to you? What's the point of all of that mobility if you're just going to camp a ramp?

I drive TBRs. They are fun mechs. But once my legs are shot out from under me, I'm toast in short order.

With proper heatscale Timberrwolf would've never been an issue.

Question: What do you call a Timber Wolf as slow as molasses and as agile as a slug?

Answer: Extinct.

Quirks aren't going to make for fair balance. You can use pretty much whatever weapons you want to avoid ghost heat. Here again Timberwolf breaks the mold.

I could maybe see quirks being ok if they were really bad AND they stacked if you mix/matched arms. That is to say if you use the prime+S then you get the full quirks of both (which assumes they would have different quirks so that is an issue).

If the Timberwolf is a "fair and balanced" mech then show me the IS mech that is even close to beating it.

How about you take 4x IS heavy mechs of your choice and I'll bring some friends so you can fight 4 TWs. We'll have a series of battles (maybe 3 on each map) in skirmish. Each map would be cut into thirds with the majority of the map being out of bounds. Losing team buys the winning team the new maximum clan package.

No one in their right mind would consider that bet (even after I told you that one of my friends has been playing with his TW about 2 weeks total).

I get my Stalker, Catapult, DS, and Fatlas victories by camping a ramp. Especially on Mordor, HPG, River City, Caustic, Alpine, Canyon...and how the hell are they going to get around me if I make sure I am surrounded by my meatshields (pugmates)? There is a reason why my non-Light mechs hardly die by legging.

I also do not simply stand still while hiding my legs behind an natural incline.

the Timerwolf does seem to take too much DMG sometimes. That being said 75 tonne heavies are always going to be the best all around mechs on the battle field.

They will nerf it as soon as it hits C-bills. Currently it is making them money with clan packs...

If every other mech was buffed to TW level matches would be over in 2-3 minutes. Is that what are you asking for?

If a large chunk of the player base use Napoleonic-era tactics, then yes, matches will be over in 2-3 minutes.

But is that really a game design problem?

But isn't the matches dominated by 10 minutes of LRM lobbing back and forth? Or that is simply figments of imagination overblown by baddies? :P

I'm not saying the TBR isn't a little OP but i wish people would stop comparing things to the Atlas. The Atlas is one of the easiest mechs to kill as it is so slow that you can just about hit the ct whenever you like. Saying you lost to a TBR in an Atlas is no surprise to me.

If we're comparing mechs though....
I went 1v2 in my JM6-S against two TBR's and killed them both (although the first was by a headshot). It was easy.
Maybe the Jager needs a nerf? No (although i think AC's do).

A couple of days ago i watched a Locust take on an Atlas and kill it without taking a scratch. I'm pretty sure the Locust isn't OP though...

That's yet another point to bring up...the whole TTK premise of the clan weapons.

IF the LRMs didn't come out in spazmatic waves and came out as a huge cluster, then you'd really see some whining. That CLRM60 build actually becomes brutal.

Or, and here's one of my biggest complaints, the way the UACs work like a machinegun. Ok, I get it. It's a pain. But, they brought in the Clan AC as a "placeholder" until they can figure out how to work swappable ammo for the LBXs. Why do the Clan ACs have the same spazz pattern the UACs have? I'm telling you right now that I'd mount the craptastic Clan AC5s instead of the UAC5s any day.

Give us some pinpoint damage potential that the IS has then you can nerf the individual mechs all you want.
