Can't remember the last time I saw a Dragon. I have some mastered if I recall, but after many of the changes, during the PPC era, the Lurmocalypse, and the age of AC, Dragons became giant lumbering deathtraps.

I remember I put an XL360 in one for shits and giggles, and it was like a self-exploding train wreck. The barrel chest is just too big a target in this pinpoint damage game. Even fully frontloaded it's only a matter of time.

Don't see many unAwesomes either. But when I do, I always try to run up and say hello.

Lights:
Anything not the ECM variant or Hero Version of the Commando.
Raven 2X - I don't really blame people for it, 1 more energy, 1 less missile, Slower than the 3L, and doesn't have ECM.
Adders - While it maybe able to do non-ballistic builds outright better than the Kit Fox, Kit Fox can use jumpjets and it has ECM, so I don't really blame people for not taking it. Ironicly, most people I see that use the Adder get very high damage all the time due to them just ambushing constantly and people just ignoring Adders.

Mediums:
Non-ECM Cicadas -
Kintaros (outside of Champions) - I used to see them all over the place, I wonder why they aren't so popular anymore, did they get a nerf in some way and I missed it?
Trenchbuckets - I don't blame them, leveling it now and there's a lot of problems with this mech, with it being assault sized being the biggest problem. 5J and 7M is one of the better LRM boats though (hardpoint-wise and can use Jumpjets, I gotta compare it with centurion, hunchback, ) , and the 7K has some rather high mounted energy + ballistic slots. In general though, anything Trenchbucket can do, another medium can do better.

Heavy:
Dragons (excluding heros): Do you like hard mode? Play a Dragon!
Quickdraw: Not sure why they aren't so popular anymore
Catapult C4: Probably due to the lack of customization + lack of lasers.

Assaults: I see all the variants on a regular basis surprisingly.

Also, King Crab, Ice Ferret, Fenris, Hellbringer, Mad Dog, and the Gargoyle. I haven't seen them anywhere in game lately, what's up with that? ;)

Dragon. I think I've seen two of them in three months.

Pretty good spread on the rest.

I drive a Locust and See lots of them (500 Damage plus Bugs. Jesus.)

One thing about Awesomes I noticed lately ... they are rare yes but when I meet one, the pilot is usually very SHARP.

Light: Locust (the opposite end of the survivability scale from the Spider)
Medium: Wolverine (after playing it recently i understand why. Worst mech I've ever used by far)
Heavy: Dragon (probably see it the least but not by much)
Assault: Awesome (same as the Dragon. I see many but not as much as the other assaults)

Solo queue only.

Wolverines are awesome as SRM brawlers. 6R is one of my best mechs.

I found my WVR-6R makes a strangely effective mech. MPL, LB-10x, 3x SSRM2 and BAP. It should flat out suck. Yet I regularly get 500+ dmg and 3 or more kills.

But i still hate it. Mostly because of the looks, though, TBH. One of the few serious "UGH" designs from Alex. Too much of a walking brick. I'd rank it with the Banshee ans the arms on his Jagermech's concept, as the worst designs in MWO.

Fortunately, I think I can overlook 2 misfires for all the win he has delivered. ;)

Yeah, Dragon, Highlander (though there have been quite a few this weekend), Commando, Locust, non 3L Ravens, Adder, Vindicator, Centurion, Hunchback, Trebuchet, Wolverine, Dragon, Quickdraw, Orion, Summoner. Come to think of it, it would be easier to list the 'Mechs I do see on a regular basis

No Cataphracts? No Gaussjagers? Man, I wish I were so lucky. I would take on a Timber over a Cataphract any day.

Yeah this weekend been quite odd suddenly starting to see dragons each 2 battles feels odd. ^_^

mechs should be checked for balance every now and then (more frequent then so far) like weapons. There are weapon balancing things all the time but some chassis just get left over to never be played again.

chassis wise i think the weak ones are:
- the whole phoenix pack apart from the shadowhawks which is a shame
- orion
- blackjack
- trebs (shadowhawk is just better)
- dragon
- summoner
- victor
- highlander
- banshee
- none ECM cicada

Totally agree on the wolv, its one advantage over the griffon was negated with the jj change (that being its amazing ability to look down while jumping). Kintaro is amazingly durable but with so much arm mounted its kind of a wash.

I have had most of my best games on KTO. Right now, the 19 is my favorite - scored 1512 damage and 6 kills in one game with it - but I also do like the Griffin.

Kintaro is my go to medium mech. Machine gun lrm5 with cool down is a thing of unending missile barrage beauty.

Strange... love my AC20 Flame(Dragon)... because it's an arse kick backstabber

Love my Swiss Army Knife Wolverine 7K(PPC, 2xMedLas, 2xSSRM, LRM10), Jumping Thunderbolt(ERPPC, ALRM15, TAG, 3xMedLas) and my Victor and Highlander.... Oh wait... all their jump jets are broken... guess they go on the shelf... oh look... all my mechs have broken jump jets... guess I'll farm PUGs in a Timberwolf.

P.S.: I still believe that multi-role mechs can and do work effectively and efficiently, but only if they have mobility.

The Dragon 5N was my first mech and still remains one of my favorites. It packs an xl 340 with a top speed of 101 kp/h, and with a LPL, srm 6 and an lb-10x it makes an excellent hit and run mech. Since then I've bought the Fang and a 1N and I run xl's in both of them. The real drawback to this mech is its Freightliner CT. If you're gonna die, the CT is likely the cause so running a standard engine is pointless. If you play the Dragon as a sniper unit or hit and run it can be a great mech

Adder, Commando, Vindicator, Kintaro, Trebuchet, Quickdraw, Thunderbolt, Dragon, Orion, Awesome, Banshee and Highlander are probably the rarest for me to see, my own Adders don't count of course.

I *occasionally* see Hunchbacks, often enough (compared to the rest) that they don't quite make the list. Even Jenners are becoming a bit rare, though they're far more common than a Commando.

It's no coincidence they're all generally terrible mechs or severely outclassed by newer mechs in the same weight class.

Non trial Kintaros are also rare.

I see locusts every couple of matches in solo drops. More often than not, a wasted slot, I rarely see one break 100 damage and score an assist before somebody looks at him funny.
