After the package unzips, it autoruns the .msi installer. Just before it completes I get;
Quote
The readme links to the 2006 DirectX redistributable. So second time round I installed that, but still get the same error.
Not much help on google since it's so old.
Will keep looking & come back if I find a fix.
Ps: This is on 32bit XP SP3.

Nice, I see they've also got a bunch of user-made campaigns up there - As someone who did this for UT2k4 I'm very interested.
Hopefully it has it's own way of installing the full MC2 game without requiring it to already be installed as unless I go "yaarh" I don't think I can install it, not using the MS link above.

If it matters, I installed MC2 from the MS link first(couldn't get that one to run at all, that's why I went to MCO).

Ps: Sinner; You think the fact I can't install it (the MS release) is related the fact I'm running a 32bit OS?
In other news, I got my mitts on an .iso for Mech Commander Gold - I'm not gonna replay the Port Arthur campaign as I now it so well, but the expansion pack is fair game as I never completed it iirc. (love those widdle Bushwhackers!)

a window pops up then closes and nothing happens. MC2rel is still running in processes along with the rundll32 and its eating up cpu resources. tried all sorts of compatibility modes and everything. the kicker is the Encyclopedia works just fine.
its driving me mad

MC2 is just not running on my machine, tried everything (don´t have the CD version though, and that seems to be the only version with good workaround to run it on win7 64)

P. S. MechWarrior 4 and Mech commander 1 (As well as the gold pack) have also been released to the public, although I have not been able to figure out how to use Dosbox so that I can run or install MC1. Any help with that would be really apreciated

P. P. S. Sorry, couldnt add the download links for the above mentioned games, but a quick Google for "Mech Commander Gold Free" or "Mechwarrior 4 Free" should do the trick

If you have an Alienware machine add /gosnojoystick to the file name in properties on the shortcut. That should fix it.
