Joke mechs are always fun. Would love to see how that would do on chain fire. Give it the half second pause and you could deal all that damage to a mech too slow to retreat or run.

Generally, while playing with it, I put the arm PPC's each into two chainfired groups. It's grossly inefficient, as you've got so many tons invested in PPC's that don't do anything... but whatever. At least you can take shots without dying outright. The mech dissipates heat very slowly, as there's no tonnage left available for heat sinks, and you couldn't take enough to make a difference anyways.

Eh, that's why I left this game. People being just too stupid.
In this case, being too stupid to understand that MWO's heat system is broken and it has huge flaws (like most of the other stuff, after all) .
The only solution is one, and, as many other possible solutions for MWO problems, comes from MWLL.
I'll make it simple and will just post a video of what should happen when you alpha strike on that build even without overriding auto shutdown.
And btw, if mechlab was decent, this variant should just not be possible to build. But this is MWO, so...

The Direstar is a joke build for the lulz.

It's a one shot, one kill, one trick pony - if it isn't taken out before it can get good position.

No need to get spun up over it. If I see one in battle (haven't yet), the first thing that comes to mind is the pilot is driving it for laughs. The next thing in mind is maneuvering behind it to take it out.

Given that the original system was created to stop those mechs and reduce pin point damage (as per Twitter), even though the original mech was a joke just like this one is.

The odd question is how did the mech not explode from heat damage to the CT?

Especially since looking at it on the updated heat simulator 9 clan erppc generates something like 332 heat

Well now that's on the forums expect two things to happen:

1) Everyone will start using it, the game will become awful for a little while, just like when poptarting was a thing, and people will complain here until....

2) PPCs are going to get nerfed further or the Direwolf is.

Also that video was really, really hard to watch. The build was interesting, especially to see what it can do, but the whole "My-personality-comes-exclusively-from-a-message-board" sense of humor\music makes it almost cringe worthy. I actually had to mute it.

I discussed this build a while back and called it the "Heatmaster 5000"; I don't think we're at risk of everyone deciding to run this build. Or anyone, really.

Damage taken from heat when Shutdown is minimal. Its when you Overide Shutdown is when heat damage hurts and can be deadly.

The DWF in question will overheat and shut down, and explode about 30 seconds later. It takes damage, but the DWF has a lot of internal hitpoints so it takes a while. Override or no override - doesn't make a difference. You just get more heat if you override.
