Usually a whole lot of insults from ppl in game including the typical 'why buy the ember for this?'
Well I didn't, but i like 2ppc firestarters and this gives me an extra 30% while doing it, so why not?
Plus.. No one expects it

My Flame Dragon. Using a big XL, a LBX10 with lots of ammo, and pulse lasers. Spam the lbx at anything squishy. Fast, and surprisingly effective. Just something i threw together of nearly falling asleep from Nova boredom.
Funny watching a kitfox looking back over his shoulder and finding 65tons of dragon on his arse. ;-)

How fast are you going with that? I have 2 ER LLas and 3 SRM 4, but a 300 XL to go cooking around the map.
Just a 255XL and like 12 or 13 DHS, with I think I have x2 tons of ammo for the SRM's.
The Er larges you end up using most of the match and then when the brawl comes you just lean in and let loose.

Everyone gave me a hard time for running triple ER LL on my hunchback until the top tier comp players started putting them into their shadowhawks

That A/C2 is actually pretty nice even just 1 by itself. It is the kill guaranteed/stealer. While your other weapons (LLasers and Streaks) are cycling, you can keep pinging the enemy with the A/C2. The high DPS often gets you the kill on a red Internal mech when weapons are cycling.
Well that and ballistics have a tendency to keep mech's heads down regardless of size.

6 Medium Laser
1 Gauss Rifle (4T Ammo = 40 Salvos)
-----------------------------------------------
45 DMG Alpha
43% Heat Efficiency (Nice and cool [for me at least]
STD 265 Engine (Pretty good speed for a Jager)
Endo Steel
Double Heatsinks
Modules:
ADV Zoom
Gauss Cooldown 5
Medium Laser Range 5
Medium Laser Cooldown 5
Imp. Air Strike
Being a Jager, people will automatically gun for your torsos' assuming you have a plebian XL Engine in it. As the battle rages on they'll think you a fool for charging onward whilst getting gunned in the torso. Boy oh boy are they surprised when your torso gets blown to bits and you keep firing away, taking THEIR XL down for the count. Bonus if they get your bad torso (whichever doesn't have the gauss arm attached to it), and then you continue to gauss them in the face.
No one expects it, which is it's strong suit. I've had tons o' fun in it.

1 JJ in CT
erPPC in LT w/ a Targeting Computer
uac/5 + 3 ton ammo in RT
uac/5 + 3 ton ammo in RA
27 armor on LA
People tend to read the weapons and make the mistake of staring at it for too long. Which happens to be about 6 seconds for a medium or 12 for an assault. Have to be surgical with where to hit the enemy mech, and I use the erPPC CD as well as when the uac's jam to twist away myself for that steady suppressive fire effect. Usually by the time I lose the left arm I'm out of ammo and it's OK to shield with the right. It ends up late game running around with the TC and erPPC intact in the LT.
This works also in a Nova with 1 erPPC in the RT and a uac/5 w/ 3 tons of ammo in the RA, and use the whole left side as a shield side. Can technically use the LT/RT weapons and use the arms for shields, but having at least 1 weapon on the arm is helpful for enemy UAV. Can also mix/match and put ballistic in the Torso and the Energy in the arm. Build to preference.

Behold! The brawling AWS-9M. Able to carry Pugs even on hot maps.
Look ma, just basics! (well... most of them)

4 Gauss rifles, 80 rounds of ammo, at cost of somewhat reduced armor (to a level of a 70t mech).
It's entertaining enough for me to keep one DW in this setup.

I threw it together after a bad evening, with the angry reasoning that if I was going to be terrible all night I might as well be properly dressed for the occasion.
When it did better than any build I'd tried previously on the RS, I only got more frustrated, hence it retained the title of Craplas. I don't know why it did well- I took an atlas that moves firepower into the arms, and strapped a bomb against the torso to make one of the arms come off easier- and yet somehow it was performing well enough that I would look at the match end screen and wonder how the hell those numbers got there, because I sure as hell didn't make that happen.

I was surprised when it worked, requires chain firing, grouping and trigger discipline
