I run a Orion Protector (although the K and the M can also run this build) as a stock Orion weapon loadout. AC-10, medium lasers, LRM-15, and SRM-4, with 2 tons of ammo each, plus the non standard TAG laser for anti-ECM.
Works surprisngly well, and got me my first 1000 damage game.
It even can fit FF armor onto the build.
I will say it is also a bit fussy, as it has four separate classes of weapons to deal with, so I would say it is not for beginners.

The Mini-Atlas is not to be laughed at. I've found it to be most effective when you hang just to one side of a real Atlas. When the enemy focuses on 100tons of Skull and Death, the 75 tons of Mini-Skull (Skull Junior? Mini-Death?) lays into them. Even better if you can swing round them to get Combat Advantage.

Awesome 8Q with a 300 STD, 2 ERPPCs, and 5 MPLs.
The thing runs super hot, but man is it brutal. I had tried a number of other arm-weapon options, as well as having a go with MLs instead of the MPLs (longer range, lower heat, lighter), but the sheer murderous firepower of the ERPPC/MPL combo is down right shocking in its potency.

That sounds like an absolutely vicious 8Q.
I run mine with 2xPPC and 5xML as an energy support/brawler.
On topic.
Currently grinding my Summoners.
My prime variant is surprising me with it's simplicity, armed with just an UAC10 and ERPPC I thought it is woefully underpowered. Haven't even complete Elite yet.
Going at relatively fast 89kph and armed with long range weapons make it a good harasser and direct fire support.
Just today I had an interesting match in it.
Dropped into PUG Therma, the enemy team have capture center first and is standing around one entrance taking turn hosing bullets down range at my team.
I hiked around to the opposite entrance and start spraying with all my weapon at their backs. The enemy team send a single shadowhawk to deal with me, I back off behind a hill and power down. The SH arrives at the bridge, looked around and went back to center. I power up and followed him and line up UAC10 double tab and ERPPC at this back CT.
A nova notice this and try to poptart with ERPPC, but I took out his already damage PPC side with a lucky shot and leave him running.
By now the enemy team must have panicked and starts to push across the bridge, where about 7 of my team mate are waiting. They quickly mow down the enemy, by the time I ran across the center to join the fight, there is only 1 firestarter and warhawk standing, the nova was separated and rush the team solo to end the match. We were down to 4 when we won the match.

This dragon has actually gotten me around 400 damage and a few kills a match. It is just weird.
