I actually had fun in all the stalker chassis though, even the 3H that I didn't upgrade or keep.
I think in part it's a personal thing which ones you like anyway and which ones you can't stand (relatively) stock.

1) This is barely even worth called "grinding". If you have not played any MMOs, then I guess I could understand - but MWO's XP system is pretty far from some kind of a hard or long "grind".
2) The "grinding" is part of what allows people to play this game for free. It is the nature of the Free to Play beast.

Even in the case of MMORPGs that rely on heavy grinding (which I have played some of by the way) those games at least have a variety in content to sustain them where as MWO doesn't, but more importantly those are not strictly competitive games. Most competitive games worth a damn don't have you fighting against players with objective advantages over you because you didn't grind enough, I played Loadout (on Steam) for a little while and stopped playing it completely and didn't pay a cent towards that game for exactly the same reasons (among others) I'm complaining about here.

I realize why it's a part of the game, it's actually pretty obvious if you're not stupid, although the grinding alone isn't what defines the F2P genre since there's plenty of exorbitantly priced items for people that like to throw money at insubstantial pixels in almost any F2P game and that is also a part of this game too.
There really isn't a good way to dispute that it is grinding, you can dispute that it's not so bad but I obviously disagree vehemently and I think this game takes it too far.

I would say I'm surprised to see that suggestion coming from somebody with elite founders and phoenix overlord badge but--well, that would be lying.
lol ... hey dude, if you are hungry I suggest you eat some food. If you are thirsty I suggest you drink some water. If you are fat, I suggest diet and exercise. Just because you dont like the answer doesnt mean it isnt true.

Oh wow you're right, premium time really is the answer, it's just that my objectively wrong bias as an entitled manchild makes me too stubborn to give in even when I'm wrong, also my allowance from my mom won't cover the premium time either.

If you're winning, and having fun, then even piloting a mech without all the efficiencies yet doesn't really feel like a grind.
If you're losing... then well. Incidentally, not trolling. Could be any number of reasons.
You're in a crappy variant. We've all been there, premium time or not.
Your skills aren't up to scratch yet. Everyone was a noob once.
The matchmaker is kicking your ass. It happens. But they're working to improve it.
Removing the grind won't solve the above issues for you.

Don't play if you're so upset, PGI isn't losing money on you.
Either stop playing or stop crying.

I'm generally not having fun in mechs that I have no interest in piloting but am forced to if I want my favored mech to be actually good. I could also be losing (at least partly) because of the lack of 2x basic efficiencies which has a wide range of effects, speed tweak, quick fire, even quick ignition, modules that I haven't finished grinding out yet, etc.

That's a funny way of looking at it if I'm not spending money on the game.

That's exactly why PGI doesn't owe you anything.
You don't contribute to the game, you play for free and you complain about how you don't like how much time it takes to get stuff for free.
You're playing for free, that's why you're grinding, if you got everything you wanted easily why would you pay anything?
You're just being an entitled little whiner.

Some of the variants are downright rubbish compared to the main one that people use, for example Ravens, Spiders, Cicadas and Atlases.
But others possibly feel bad because they carry weapon loadouts that you might not be used to, say if one is a Ballistic focused mech and you prefer missiles/lasers.
Being forced to pilot one will never be fun, but you could always try to look at it as trying out weapons you'd normally never use.
For example, I used to hate ballistics. Gauss and AC20s are now my favourite weapons.
Yes, hardpoints and restrictions can be bad. But I think they also occasionally force us to try something new which does come with unexpected perks.

Yep, because I don't want to spend hours dealing with a boring grindfest to get anywhere that means I want everything free and easily, and obviously if I didn't have to grind forever there could not POSSIBLY be any reason for me to pay for anything.
It'd be nice if idiots didn't derail this topic every time with the same nonsense and strawman arguments.

So anything you disagree with is nonsense?
Way to throw any credibility you may have had out the window.
My point is that you have an option to throw down for premium time or other features, instead, you choose to play for free, then complain about how hard it is to get ****, instead of being happy you have a free game to play.

That's a very short-sighted way to see things, and the WRONG way to see F2P games, everyone matters whether you like it or not, players are content (there is no AI or campaigns to play through after all) and if you **** on every free player, you will be forever stuck playing the same players until each whale slowly fades away.....
Regardless of whether they are playing or not, you make the game fun enough, and more people will join through friends and word of mouth. Which means more potential customers. People having fun means they are much more willing to throw down some money just to support their favorite game which means more money for PGI. PGI not regarding any free player's view is tantamount to saying f*** new customers (keep in mind here, Im not saying this post specifically is a valid, just in general).

I'm not saying players who play free don't matter.
I'm saying players who play for free shouldn't complain about how hard it is to get free stuff.
