Can you post a SS of your stats showing 2 wins for every 8 losses please?

Never said my STATs showed a 2 to 8 win to loss.

As I posted yesterday, out of 11 matches we played as a 4 man group - 5 were a 12-3 or worse stomp and we had only 2 victories and 1 tie. A couple of the defeats were pretty close, but most were not fun.

That is what I said, and that is the problem as I see it. Since this is during the "Lance Challenge" weekend, the stats might be skewed - but it's still no fun to be on the receiving end of 12 to 4 or worse stomp.

Actually, the Lance Challenge is the best time for small casual groups to play since the big organized units will have to split up into lances in order to participate and the chances their lances will all end up on the same team (or even the same match) are slim. I pointed this out on the first day of the Challenge, but it's probably too late now since most big units would have completed it by now.

Well, seems my forum search skills just aren't up to finding anything one way or the other - guess you folks know better cause you have more posts than I do.

That's how MM was explained to me when I asked why we seem to lose 8 out of 10 matches. I accepted that explanation because it fit the match results I've experience. Since that obviously isn't true, then the only other explanation I can come up with is I'm a terrible player.

That being the case, is there one good reason to continue to play MWO - aside from being cannon fodder for the better players?

Yes you can actually play to improve your skills. I'm not being patronising as that's just what I did and still do. Set yourself goals and talk to experienced players about the rationale over why they do certain things. Most players actually aren't arsehats when you talk one to one on comms despite the evidence provided by these forums. :D

PS: There are several public comms like Comstar NA and NGNG where lots of players hang out if you're looking to inject some experience into your lance or get advice.

Btw Deathlike - That's probably the best suggestion I've seen if PGI is determined to maintain a standard queue with large groups. The big question with it is, are there enough active players to have it run well? It'd have my support to be tried if PGI thinks there are.

IMO, there are plenty of small groups that exist (only PGI knows the telemetry)... the question is whether or not there's enough to satisfy the 8, 9, 10 man groups that would need such a smaller premade. The incentive is hopefully there to make that goal possible.

Nope, didnt say it. Oh wait, you jsut SEEM to lsoe 8 out of 10, but really, its probably much closer to 5 out of 10, isnt it?

I think my problem may be part of this issue but I hate the group que for this. I've rarely won any game in the past few months in the group que because of how good I am in the Pug que and for some reason my team always seems the one to have the guy in trial nova alpha striking or a DC or a group of new trial mechs while the enemy is an organised enemy lance and stuff...

I think they should put the 2 player group back into the "solo" que. I notice when dropping with just 1 other of my unit that we mostly feel like a 5th wheel when paired up with larger groups, and being out of the loop of their voice communications, and since they are mostly on VOIP there is almost no text chat as in the PUG games.

As a 2 man you have little hope of swaying the battle and I don't see how 2 man groups would be unfair to solo players. Even when dropping with 3 I notice a significant improvement of battle effectiveness over a 2 man drop.

Aff.

Lack of players is the real reason why the can't do stuff like this. If they did, it'd take 30 minutes just to find a match.

You could always try the private lobby.

If my 12 man experience is worth anything about MM. Tonight my 12 man got the exact same 12 man group two times in a row. I think MM tries to group 12 v 12 first then goes down from there.

Just have to say that me and a friend had some great drops yesterday. I think we only had one drop vs a 10+2, the rest were against mostly 4-man lances tops. I assume it's the current lance challenge that does it, but it really made group drops with 2-mans much more fun. Lots of close games that really were ggs.

Totegeboren, I've noticed it too-another great night last night of some seriously good games! Some loses, some wins the odd stomp..for and against but not once did I feel a match was unfair.
Shame it'll come to an end soon enough:(
Your 3 man faces...:a 10 man and a 2 man.
Match goes like.....: meta fest,air/art/air/art/air/art over and over....
Back to that soon enough:)

I believe this is due to the lance challenge, so basically (imo) we are getting much better matches and more fun with groups capped at 4.

Unfortunately I couldn't get my friends to come in to game over the weekend and the match ends in a few hours.

Sadly, that was not the case for our groups last night. In the space of three missions, we met the same 10 man group. First time was a 12-0 stomp and the second was a 12-1.

I tried to post screen shots, but got the error "Post too short"

Anyways, I don't know what else to do. We just want to have some fun while dropping as a group of friends. Any constructive suggestions, and please don't say learn to play - we do fine in the solo queue.

For now, the only hope on the horizon is that when Community Warfare arrives, most if not all of the big organized units will migrate there during prime time, leaving the group queue to mostly small casual groups.

lol, even if you had been able to escape the aggro (near to impossible??) the lance challenge was for a full lance, and seems like none of the others want to even hear about MWO anymore.

Casual means different things to different people. For me, casual means I'm drinking gin, or beer, and have less than 11 other buddies in my group.

Casual to you might mean dropping with only 1-3 friends at a time.

To me Casual means I'm playing a game..... so whenever you see me in MWO, I'm casual.

It never will either.

There's no way to differentiate somebody's "level", and there's not even a tech tier like just about every other game to ever copy/paste world of tanks' game mode (to be fair they didn't exactly invent the whole team last man standing and/or stand in the square mode, but it's the most common comparison and the one people are actually copying due to its success) has done, even if that level just means the time they've played the game - A legendary founder could have easily taken a lengthy break from the game and come back and get matched up against people that started a month ago, yet play the game 24/7 and *should* have higher rankings, and are piloting vastly superior meta builds or just in general, better mechs. Except they don't.

That alone is enough to turn a LOT of people away from the game. There's also no indication of whether or not a build is "good" or bad, the forced money sinks EVERYWHERE have been ridiculous from the start, I'm not even sure what to call them now with all these weapon modules.

Actually MWO game modes are more similar to MW:LL from what I've seen. The only real difference I've seen is MWO is mech only, doesn't have respawns (good thing) and has customization (which LL was working towards). Oh and they had Solaris.

Just wanted to add, always go to teamspeak or ventrilo for group que; don't be a group that's not on comms. I do think eventually that the game may create an IS vs IS only zone for new pilots. Like in zone around/after Terra. Either that or we need to start hosting rooms in TS that are doing training matches of smaller than 12 man groups with two people willing to waste their premium time. I know I'm going to a friends at end of month and plan to host just small 2 v 2 or 4 v 4 matches. Maybe even 4 spiders vs Atlas (until PGI releases Elementals) fun matches. It would be possible to have 'Historical Battles' were the mechs and equipment were predetermined. That would at least be more forgiving to new pilots.

I'm more often than not running PT and don't mind helping out fresh meat for a time. I'd be happy to be one of the facilitators of such a group. This shouldn't be too hard to organize, similar to Stock Mech matches.

Aye, it's such a shame it's gone back to normal though. Out of eight games last night four of them were vs eight mans....

There were lances running for the full time of the challenge in the public teamspeaks. You could have just hopped down there and played with your friend and made a couple of new ones.
