Just got headshot artillery striked in a direwolf whilst looking down. I'm wearing a hat, please apply damage to the CT not head especially if you are looking down.
Why is this is made to be possible?

I don't like the way Artillery & Airstrike works, but... I don't mind that it does damage to the cockpit.

If it worked that way great, but the strikes come straight down. I do understand what the OP describes, i actually had four strikes dropped on me all in succession by a light lance that found me. First one just about took out my head, the others pulled a leg and a few other bits off.
Credit to those little ******** though, they didnt care if they died at the same time lol. Took two out before something got me from the distance (head shot no less lol).

I'm not sure if the strikes come straight down or not. Can we see it in game?

Cause you have a head that is in the blast radius. Does your head NOT have a chin or underside to it's projecting cockpit? Is there no floor in your cockpit? Your logic is faulty I'm afraid.

On a Dire/Timber Wolf, Warhawk, Nova none. There is to much chest in the way to hit the cockpit. Mechs like the Gargoyle though... Back of the cockpit is just a bit of armor that CAN be shot through.

Sure, just place a strike below a platform, the shells will hit directly above the smoke. I abuse this all the time to sneak in some solid hits, today I placed a strike on the tower by the citadel helipad on river city, it took a solid chunk out of the guys in the water around it, they never saw it coming.
