I just read the founders pack announcement again and I asked myself :

"Wouldn't it be better to have Reputation instead of experiene in the game?"

As far as I know there will not be a Techtree like in WoT.(from tank to tank)
So you will need XP and C-bills to buy better weapons, gear, etc, for every Mech.

And I dont think you need experience to buy somthing, you need connections and money!

I think reputation would be the better fit.

What do you think?

I believe that there is a Skill Tree... So you may be able to buy that shiny new Jamming Module, but until you use your XP to buy the skill, you won't be able to operate it.

Just speculation on my part.

There is a reputation in the game... with enough of it, you can join special units and maybe get better equip as well. ;)

As for the tech tree (the pictures explined it easily, but they're broken for some reason) : http://mwomercs.com/...3-role-warfare/

OK, good.
But I would love to see general reputaion for the mech(fame) and an reputatin with the various parties.

Even if it's all about the name.(xp vs. reputaion(or fame)
XP is so overused and the game would feel alot more real without it.

Ya, as far as I know it would be just changing the word experience to reputation .... I like reputation better as well ...

Not there is a mechanic in the game for the houses that let you rise in rank and such within your House faction .... perhaps that is called reputation ...

I like the idea as well, even if it is the same thing, it fits the background of Battletech

There is experience in the game and you use it to unlock skills with each mech. What I am not sure on is if that experience is across all mech platforms or specific to a given mech.

IE. If I run around gaining XP in a Jenner, can I use to spend on say a Catapult tree or is it tied only to the Mech I'm in or the mech class I am in.

In order to get the elite skills you have to unlock all the skills in 4 variants of the mech your in. Ie. 4 Jenner variants before I can get elite Jenner skills.

I think its only for the piloted mech, expect the pilot xp you get once in a while.

There are 2 sets of trees actually..

Ones for Pilot skills that unlock modules.. and one for tiny bonuses to the mechs themselves...

You gain EXP with both the mech and the pilot. Mech exp lets you improve aspects of the mech, like twist rate or acceleration, while pilot EXP helps denote your role in combat, like attacker or scout.

Rep can also be earn via the faction warfare system, letting you trade in rep points earned from fighting for the various houses for bonues.

MW:O is a PvP game not a PvE game, Reputation might work in a PvE game but not here in this one.

Players would only care about there own reputation and it would mostly end up feeding and breeding more trolls.

Think there are enough of them already.

Both. Experience to improve my pilot (me) and reputation for how other factions deal with me. If my faction rating is high enough I might be able to jump ship and join a different house.

Experience- How good you are at controlling your Mech.
Reputation- How much people fear how well you pilot your Mech!

So yeah... Both!

I hope it is something like this. If you have to use xp to buy skill to operate equipment that would make grinding a lot more fun.
