I'd say it's fine to post your stream/site if mwo related. But please just once per game, before or after the fighting, otherwise you are just annoying and spammy. Links to other unrelated stuff is spam and not ok imo.

Streams make games more popular.

If MWO streams are actually entertaining to watch, we'll eventually get new folks in.

I'm all for people streaming MWO.

I see people spamming their stream links like twitch and other such sites. People on my own team. People on the enemy team. All sorts of people.

Apart from it just being chat spam, who knows what those people are actually streaming at their link. Who knows if their link has any inappropriate material. Who knows what kind of language they are using on their stream.

I know I wouldnt want my kids or anybody elses following strange links around the internet because some guy in a game told them to go there. Theres no telling what type of material people may be linking to. Might as well just link people to chat roulette.

Id like people posting website links other than links to MWOs website in chat to be a reportable offense. Unless it already is an offense and I dont know that.

I see. I guess your insults you hurl around in chat are good for kids, then. Hypocrit.

I know what the OP means.
And I find posts like:
"Hey you are now live on twitch" without beeing asked or without deliberately signing up for such a action to be just rude and annoying !

btw why would someone stream pug games ???

So do I think posting streaming links, or doing streaming in public matches should be a punishable offense ?

YES

Edit: If you want to display MWO or your awsome skills or if you feel just pretty and flashy put up a private match with your victims of choice and do your streaming there.

The good thing is though, nobody has to ask your permission, because your personal rights don't get infringed just because your stupid internet robots name shows up once in a while on stream or YT videos.

Welcome to the world you now live in. "Innocent until proven guilty" is so 20th Century.

I'll only say this once:
Even if you disagree with someones opinion, that is no reason to be demeaning or insulting or attempting to discredit him. Any further attempts in that regard, or any other form of unconstructive reply, found in this thread will result in the entry and the user posting it being moderated.

I already cleaned up a few such posts and I hope to not see them again.

A quick "I did not agree to sign any release form. My lawyers will get in touch with you soon." seems to shut them up real quick while at the same time providing amusement to everyone else.

Twitch is a result of a culture of mediocrity where people like to watch great players play the games they should be playing.

Hmm. And all along I thought is was the result of a culture of narcissism promoted by things like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Web X.X in general.

Nah, its cool. The usually spam it once a match. If you're worried about your child's online behavior perhaps you should have a talk with them about internet safety and preview any streamers they are interested in watching.

Good point. Very good point. Complaints like this are the reason these options are in game now. So please use them.

no worse than the other mindless drivel that comes through the chat box.. '

now if its continuously spammed through out the match then yeah thats a problem .

but this is not the worse. streaming is becoming popular wont be to much longer before you see 4 to 8 of these in game every match .

especially the annoying ones i.e. : "watch me kick your @ZZ on httP//yomamamademeyodaddy.com"

so yeah only expect it to get worse.

I know our guy only announces it at beginning of match when NGNG is featuring it and there is a bunch watching. It was highlighted on twitches home page a couple weeks ago and a bunch of people inquired about the game in chat and info about downloading it. Win win if its free advertising and some new people can see the fun some are having in matches.

Plus he watches chat and answers any questions people have about anything. Nicest guy you will find in the game, good pilot and very helpful. [redacted]

response to moderation: Sorry but what I put was not off topic and see no "sub-forum" listing that falls under what I said. That being said, then half of the threads created in "general" forums should be moved to "feature suggestions".

And most importantly it's mostly NOT about letting the others in the game look dumb or expose them in a any way. It's not like they hack into your webcam and stream your face while you're playing. The only occasions to even see your nickname in a stream is on the start and end screens and when you type in chat or in kill messages. And the chat is hardly legible in most streams and watchers would either not care about the start and end screens or just scan to see nicks of people they know and play with.

In my opinion Crunk and Basilisk are bloating up a non-problem because of some weird paranoic thought process they got going on there.

Nailed it.
This is such a non-issue that it's not even funny.
If somebody is worried about their online gaming handle potentially being seen by a handful of other gamers online, they should re-evaluate whether or not they should be using the internet.

Has spam/spamming taken on a new definition or something?
How can something be spammed if it only occurs once?

Its kinda the same but different. You can spam a message by posting it multiple times in a match or by posting it in multiple matches. Ever received a spam email? You only got one copy of the email but they sent it out to a lot of places. Actually, I imagine the meaning you think of is the newer one.

Given the amount of "foul" language, rudeness, and general bad behavior that CAN (not always, most matches are pretty good), be seen in chat...someone advertising for their stream at the start of the match...is the least of the things parents should be concerned with. I say that as a parent. My kids watch me play, and my oldest wants his own account, though I haven't set one up for him yet.

Welcome back Crunk, hope you enjoyed your time off...heh heh... But when it comes to chat spam, this is a pot calling the kettle black issue, for those who attention *h*r* at the beginning of a match...perhaps people who repeatedly type in all caps at the beginning of a match should also be reported....eh?

Unless they're literally spamming the link every minute or second of the match. Then no. Let them link their stream. It's good for the game to have streamers. It doesn't get enough attention on Twitch.

If linking your stream at the end and start of a match is against the rules. They should change that.

While I think it would be funny for PGI to ban NGNG (their own media outlit) since they always say "your live on twitch" before every match..

Just no.. Publicity for the game is always good, stop being so self conscious, and i really hope this mentality doesn't spill into real life with you chasing after people that snap a photo that happens to have you caught in it.

Wait, hold on a sec. Your username is "Crunk Prime" and you are worried about offensive content? WTF?

So, you're cool with it so long as you don't know it's being done? I mean, if you don't want people to see you play stompy giant robot games than perhaps you should find one to play that doesn't exclusively involve online multiplayer.

I used to let people know I was streaming back when I first started doing it, but I don't anymore. It's practically an invitation for focus fire ("Hey, let's kill the streamer!") or people take it as a challenge to say the most offensive things they can think of in open chat ("I learned that bad behavior gets me attention! Watch this!").
