the guy had a b*tch and got jumped?

He was "jumped" for an inconsequential ***** and attempting to make it seem like this is the ONLY game that every had 10 minute patches. 10 minutes is nothing. My friend had to wait an hour out of our 3 hour play session we had the other day for a Payday 2 patch. Most of that is the ISP he has making the download take forever for him. We hung out and chatted with him for an hour, finding and sharing things on the internet to entertain ourselves while we all waited. This is what adults do. Now at least he went and found something else to do with his friends but complaining about a 10 minute patch time? Talk about First World problems.

Also, let me point out that running the patch on my computer takes on average about 3 minutes. Usually by the time I say, "I forgot to patch." to my friends it is well on it's way. So either I have a more powerful computer or the time it takes is being exaggerated.

Most other games take as long if not longer to patch. In a way Steam has spoiled me by downloading patches automatically since I now leave it on all the time. When I play games like Rift, MWO, and other non-steam games I often have to run through them ahead of time to make sure they are up to date since Rift can take 20-30 minutes to update fully depending on what they did.

All in all it is a minor complaint from someone who could take measures to ever prevent it happening to them.

Me and 2 of my friend were early adopter of MWO. We are family man that enjoys playing and set aside a 3 hours period on two nights a week. We love to play MWO, but if there is a new patch that one of us didn't install, we usually have to skip playing MWO.

It takes a huge amount of time to go through a patch. The last one I did was of 128MB download and took 10 minutes to install???? I can download and install a new version of Diablo 3 in 15??? My macine is starting to be old, but I downloaded the patch in less then a minute. Why do you need 9 minutes to install? Not only is it long to install, but during the install and finalize process everything is super slow.

Any chance of finally looking into this long patching method you are using. I really think it is hurting your chances of getting people on board. I know that if I was not that much of fan of MWO, I would have dropped the game just because of this patching nightmare.

That must be a troll right? I wait 4-5 mins for a match quite often and the average length of a match is 6 minutes currently. So that's longer than the entire time you're using. Coincidentally that time you quoted is also much longer than anyone who was on our unit comms and we just patched during the downtime as it was ready before the servers came back up.

So overall...... bad troll. :P

OP, you won't get much sympathy here. Patch times are low enough they're not really a bother to anyone with even a smidgen of patience. In particular, there's no reason not to patch ahead of time, unless it's tuesday right after patch time.

You're coming off as a very impatient person who must have everything right now and then. :/

And realistically, I don't see patching times improving. The patcher is already quite adequate and thus it's a low priority to make it better. If even one at all.

I like to start the patcher then grab something to eat. By the time I'm done, it's done. "A watched pot never boils" and all that.

i was not aware the patcher took time what so ever ?
perhaps the OP should be looking at ways to get a better CPU

also 10mins is nothing for a patch, i have spent longer in Que for a match

OP clearly never experienced a 56k modem

if you can't spend 10 of the 180 minutes you have to play that night on a game to "make it better" and run off to play something else just to save said 10 minutes, you obviously are not as much of a fan as you say you are and you don't really care whether you play it or not. Maybe time to move on?

Point taken about the patch always being on Tuesdays and being spoiled by Steam. The internet is not the problem, but I just went back and looked at the system requirements and I'm between the minimal and recommended:
AMD Athlon II X4 635 Processor 2.90Ghz with 6GB Ram and ATI Radeon HD4800 series.

Thanks for the replies and even the few ribs :)

Patch times (if you patch often) are still 100% better than many other games I have played.
