Just wanted to know with exchangeable Omnipods, do you really unlock all skills for all Variants of the Clan mechs?

Or just the Prime (with the C-Bill Boost) and then build whatever variant you liked best?

I don't have the c-bills to elite any of 'mechs unfortunately. However, if I did have the c-bills I would elite whatever is my favorite variant (usually the one with a weapon hardpoint in the CT) then sell the rest. I would then effectively have elite for all variants.

Same but i let Master lvl come naturally. Maybe sell one of three but it depends on the mech.

I don't go past expert skills. I don't have any modules so I don't need the extra slot.

Yes. But I am seriously considering selling the least useful variant of each of them, just to rebuild my Cbill coffers.

Basically this.

I am also odd, I never sell a mech. What is today's dirt may be tomorrow's gold and I save money that way. Remember this.

Depends on the CT mostly. A few have hard points in the CT. If there is no difference you could just master the one and sell off the others. Personally, I keep the others so I can have 3 builds at any time.

Thus far I get them through basics, then sell the non-Primes to bolster my cbill reserve.

This will change with the Gargoyle D (2E in CT) and the non-Prime Ice Ferrets (each have 1E in CT).

edit: I did level all three Warhawks through elites, but that was to meet the 3/3 weight class requirement, so I'd never have to do it again.

My OCD is nowhere near that bad!
More like an annoying itch that can be ignored if needed (or can be easily scratched at times like this)

yes because I to fully master one, you must fully master at least three variants to full elite
then I max out the others..for fun..

Last weekend was fantastic for this, as I was able to Elite all nine Clan Mechs I had in my inventory on the double XP event. I sold off three the other day [Stormcrow, Summoner and Dire Wolf]... one of each chassis that I've capped off as Elite. That will leave me with the three C-Bill boosted Primes and one alt for each. Now when I work a Medium, Heavy or Assault in the future, if things work as I suspect they will, I'll only have to basic out the three chassis and can then sell off the two I don't want, since I have a Medium, Heavy and Assault 'Elite' elsewhere. I do like the idea of 2x basics, though, so if a Mech is working for me in the future, I'll probably Elite all three, anyway.

This isn't correct. You need to have 3 variants at that weight class to fully master one. So you can, for example, just get basics in 3 Timberwolves, sell two, and master the third if you have two other Heavy mechs in your stable (including IS mechs) that have full Elite skills.

Only unlocking Elite requires three of the same chassis, not Master.

This is generally what I do. Lets me keep a couple different builds I like active at once, so I can switch builds without having to **** around with the mechlab - particularly valuable when grouped.

With my IS mechs, I never sold them because you never know how future game mechanic changes/balance changes may make an underperforming variant spectacular.

With Clan mechs, though... The pittance you get selling them isn't worth giving up being able to maintain 3 different builds; and even if I were to sell, there'd generally only be one per chassis I'd sell. This, because in almost every case the mech with a unique CT hardpoint is not the Prime mech, but I'd obviously keep my Prime for the cbill bonus. So, if I desperately needed to sell mechs for some unforeseen reason, it'd be 1 per chassis max.

Eventually I'll probably unlock elites on all three variants of any chassis I plan on actually using for remotely serious play, but for the most part I just get basics on all three, and 4x elite on one, whichever the best CT is - in some cases, not the prime(I) (see: nova, timberwolf, warhawk, even that one dire wolf has energy in the CT) variant, though if that's the case I'll most likely elite the prime as well for the c-bill boost.
