For more casual players like myself, its not good enough. I might play 10 days a month. 20 days wasted. Nope. That premium time sits banked until I am counted only for days I play and not for days I don't. If PGI is willing to allow a very active player the benefit of that month playing every day, I should get the same benefit for the days I log in. I don't expect 24 hours of time.

The day ticks when and if I log in, really should be if I log in and drop in a game, but I'd take until I log in.

There is almost no difference for activating it for a month and having it all at once. Its still way too long.
Uhh... okay? Can't say I was wrong then...

Banked time was a gift from PGI for founders. This 30-day activation is to alleviate folks who have like 210 days saved up and don't want to activate it all at once and become dedicated to the game for 3/4 of the year to make use of their time. A month is absolutely nothing. Remember that banked time only affects preorders.

You should ease up on those crazy pill- WAIT! You said you don't expect "24hrs"??? Oh. Okay. *sits down and crosses legs with a pencil and notepad in hand* Lets discuss this. What is it that you do expect if it's not 24hrs? You sound like you know what you're talking about so, enlighten me in your modest and reasonable ways, oh Casual King.
How about a "[casual gamer premium time conversion button]", and when you press it, it divides all your banked premium time by ten (because you don't expect 24hrs so you won't be needing those). So that leaves you now with 9 days (or 216 hrs) of time that will only activate whenever you are logged-in. That's AWESOME isn't it? Isn't that what you wanted? Let me look back. Okay so you wanted time that activates only when you play. Okay.. .Check. Annnnd.... you don't expect 24 hrs... .. OKAY! Check! Great!

Oh wait..... Do I sense some variables in there that you might feel the urge to complain about? I think I do! Let's see them in action shall we!
"divides all your banked premium time by ten"
What?! DIVIDED BY TEN? NO!! DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH MONEY I SPENT FOR THOSE 90 DAYS AND BECAUSE I'M A CASUAL GAMER YOU BASICALLY RIPPING ME OFF BAIT AND SWITCH! BAIT AND SWITCH! WHAT IF MY NORMAL LIFE ENDS AND I HAVE ALL THIS FREE TIME WHAT THEN HUH? WHAT THEN????
oh, and, "when ever you are logged-in"
WHAT? LOGGED IN? NO THAT TIME IS SUPPOSED TO ONLY TICK FROM WHEN I FIRE MY FIRST MEDIUM LASER AND IS A REGISTERED HIT! AND IN FACT THERE WAS AN ECM SPIDER THAT SHUT DOWN IN MY LAST GAME AND I WANT MY TIME BACK BECAUSE IT TOOK THE LAST 10 MINUTES OF THE MATCH TO FIND HIM AND HE WASTED ALL MY TIME! (come on, we all know that if you're dutch enough to complain about premium time only running when you play, then you'll be dutch enough to send in a ticket for premium time refund because someone wasted your time. You are after all complaining about a generious feature that's been given to us already. So why stop there? Hell why stop anywhere? Just keep going man, just like this paragraph I'm typing. There's no end. I wanna be able to schedule when I wanna use Premium Time. Make it a freakin button. And let me tie it to my mouse click so when I click it uses just a little bit of premium time. And then I'll click just before the match ends so I get a bonus. Because I see someone commented that we should have control over what we buy! Don't you dare give me that burger that's on your menu, I want a custom grilled chilli cheese dog with 1tbsp of dill, 2 pinches of cilantro, and load it with beans, and use that special custom chili sauce from Arby's across the road. I like they're sauce better anyways. You following me?)

PGI needs to make money bro. Russ discussed the reason why it's only going to be 30 days in his town hall meeting. It's not going to change, and I'm happy for that because they've given us more than they wanted to already. This is PGI's product, and it's PGI's menu. You don't like what's on the menu then.. really, that's too damn bad for you now.
If you want incremental premium time, you can do so by buying individual days. That's on their menu. There's a complimentary service available for those who buy a whole bunch of pre-orders and banked all that time up. They're offering it in 30-day packages, and that's all they can do because of the SCREAMING deal you're already getting by pre-ordering. They need to make money. Giving your product away doesn't make you money.

Edit: felt good to rant.
Edit: nope, had to rant some more.

The day PGI makes premium time only active when I'm logged in, is the day I start buying premium time.

and no, I don't care what Wold of Tanks does.

Yeah, this.

I have to agree with this too.

how do i bank premium time?

Only time bundled with pre-orders (such as the premium time granted with these packages) will be banked.
Premium time that you buy, or is gifted to you (such as time they give to you for interruptions of service) cannot be banked.

Nice option too bad PGI didnt automatically stop all currently active time if it is greater than 30 days to allow the people who activated it for private matches (not having a choice) to take advantage of it.

Please consider this option as a one time fix with new update

Great stuff PGI!

for those who are complaining about 1 month activation as opposed to only when you log in, if they were to implement only logged in time, the cost of premium time would be considerably higher to make it worthwhile. Actually the option is pretty much available... you can purchase just 1 day of premium time.

Because I will only purchase premium time in large blocks (3 months+) on sale, or get them included as packages, I just view premium time as a bonus, not something you MUST utilise every second it's active for.

I appreciate not everyone shares this perspective- how i view it is for people like us who love the battletech and MWO, but just can't spend the hours everyday to grind (which I have no issues with) so we get premium time so the few hours a week I'm on I get the most out of it.

For those who have the time to utilise "every minute", you don't "need" premium time (ok technically no one needs this, but you know what I mean)... you would get more XP and C-bills a week with normal gameplay than I would stacking all my hero/prime bonuses + complete omnimech bonus + premium time.

So in short, stop being so negative about it :)

I think being able to only activate in 1 month blocks is a great thing... I haven't had a holiday for over 2 years now, but in case I do I can ensure it's not active for that period... but it would be great when I know I'm going to have a very busy with work (I'm self-employed).

Awesome! Been waiting for this! Thank you. It will be much easier to activate and actually PLAY the game more often now with this feature. I know lots of people were just waiting and looking at their banked premium time, waiting for a good opportunity to play the game more often but nobody wanted to commit all their months of piled up time at once. So.. you don't really play that much as you would otherwise. But there, we finally got it... This is great stuff.

-.- sigh... Can't believe people are complaining about premium time running down when you are not playing. Premium time is (as the name suggests) very much the closest thing to a subscription account vs a F2P account. Even the prices are fairly in line with other MMO games: $14.99 = 30 days subscription.

And as per other MMO games, you gain the benefit of increased XP and currency earning when playing. Finally, no other MMO will allow you to pay for a 30 day subscription and then have it only count for days you are actually playing. Come on guys... please stop nitpicking and complaining about things that are unrealistic.

Russ was talking about 1 week ... a month is still to much for me. :-(
So please - make it at least 1 week (if you don't want to tick while logged in only) ... I'll keep waiting... :-Þ

You buy Premium Time in those increments, nothing else. Guess what you can do here. You don't buy 180 days and activate 24h of it. Show me an example which is no browsergame.

30 days is generally the minimum/standard subscription time you can buy from any online game. Some will do smaller amounts (such as 7 days) but you pay a significantly higher rate, normally at least 50% to 100% more for that privilege.

Also I would put forward the notion that if your buying the large top end pre-order packages, you are in fact not a casual MWO player. A casual player such as myself logs on occasionally and may pick up a hero mech or two.

"...to have at least 720 days on your account !"

This limit is far to low !

I would set this limit to 1000 days or 2000 days because everybody has a lot of premium time banked on his account !

Maybe you re-read what you wrote and delete it afterwards because "other games with premium you are able to activate it by 24h/3d/7d/30d/180d/365d from start of the beta" is plain wrong. I think you know it, you just want to cry a bit like always.

I have more than 2000 hours of Premium Time currently counting down, but I have to go overseas for a couple of weeks, so a lot of Premium Time will be wasted.

Could you please turn off my Premium Time so that I can start activating my balance in 30 day chunks?

(Thanks for adding the 30-day option for future purchases.)
