After the Premium ends from my Legendary Founders package I plan to support this game monthly as I would a subscription based MMO. I can't let MechWarrior ever disappear from the Video Game scene as it has for far too long.

I have never gone all-in on a game, but BattleTech & MechWarrior have always been a part of my life. So with MechWarrior Online I am going ALL IN. I upgraded to the Legendary & I am so EXCITED about MWO!!!

Yes, pre-ordered a game at Gamestop for...$5. $120 is a big deal and I only did it because it's Mechwarrior...

Oh yeah the $120 doesn't even go to buying the game... That's seperate! We still have to put our 30-40- down to get the actual game yet! :D

There have been many people talking about why to put you're coin on a game that you have yet to try. There have been many a reason about why you should not. Recriminations, trolling, and a plethora of other things happening in between. But what is the real reason you should pony up your money?

The simple answer is because your money talks. Your saying why you would or did not pay does not even register in the minds of the people with the cash. The people that front millions of dollars to pay for labor, hardware, software, an office...they do not give a damn about you if you do not pay. What they care about is if they will make back their money, if they can double their investment, and if it can happen again!

Plain and simple...money talks. People putting up millions on kickstarer to get a long dead franchise revived. Founder of a new game studio fighting tooth and nail to justify why a investor should part with their money. A million other situations that all speak to why I have a gold badge right now.

Simply put, I am now a statistic. I am a value on some analytic that another game developer can use to get money to make a game I may enjoy. I have helped not only Piranha and IGP, but many other developers that are faced with rising costs and a skeptical market. And that...that is worth $120...don't you think?

Yeah! Put me down for what HE said.

$120 was only around £75... It's still a fair chunk but I figure it's worth it considering i've been waiting so very long for this... Plus the 3 months subscription and $80 in game cash is a nice bonus too (I would of subscribed from start anyway if there weren't Founders packs)

I've paid £35 for a computer game, Only for the actual game part to last maybe 10 hours gaming maximum..? Then there's a poorly designed Multiplayer aspect that i'm totally not interested in playing. I know MWO is only multiplayer... But i'm expecting they will try and polish it as best as possible considering it's the entire reason to the game. Rest assured, I'm going to be getting well over 24 hours worth of gaming out of MWO... So I feel I will be getting my moneys worth either way.

BS........walks

I wanted to be a stat so I can play this game
And bringing in over a mill in 2 days make this look WAY better than me waiting till Aug 6th to buy
But that is what we have been saying about supporting our game
Be a stat for your game if you want it

I can see a Legendary propaganda thread being started, "Be a stat, Buy Legendary"

I bought Elite because I couldn't afford Legendary on the day sales started. I will upgrade to Legendary on Thursday when I get paid again. My reasons are fairly simple and selfish.

I love BT
I love the Mechwarrior franchise
I will play for at least 3 months just to see if the game is what I want it to be or not
4 Mechs!

Sure the devs get supported and thats good for the game because more money for devs means better games but in the end its all about me and getting stuff.

When I stumbled across the site months ago, I was extremely excited as here was a chance to yet again play a game I loved. During this time another TT game I loved (and still have the original of ) OGRE went on Kickstarter.... Did not participate as no one to play with in my area anymore.... When the Founder's pack was first announced, I budgeted for the Elite pack....
Then the min specs came out.... my current computer will not play it and my beta stats are locked with that data.....
My wife of thirty years sat down with me... we are buying a brand new, top line desktop... and she told me to upgrade to the Legendary as "I'm sure you'll find a use for the extra mechs LOL"

Simply put.... its a game... but a game that many people love the idea of.... that I personally have spent countless hours playing and introducing new players to.... a game that the flavor of the universe, the stories, the canon, so far appear to be carried through by the devs....

For a chance to once again strap on my mech and lumber out to do battle.... yeah... its worth the risk.....

Like the developers have said from the start. Some people will drop cash for shiny toys, others will grind for them. It all depends on personal taste.

I decided as soon as I saw that I was getting the Legendary. I have loved the Battletech IP for 20 years, and think a legit online adaptation will be amazing. I probably would have paid double if thats what it took to make the game.

My very first video game was MechWarrior 3, and I want a MechWarrior game to be one of the last games I play, if not the last.

This is my part in ensuring this desire is fulfilled.

I never really looked at the founders packs as investments to move development along. It already seemed clear that the developers had enough capital to move forward to open beta and eventually launch, just the money from founders members helps in other regards, such as bringing in more hardware for testing purposes and working on bringing servers to other regions for players outside of North America. I know its already been mentioned that european servers are considered a "when" more than "if", but other regions need that kind of assurance, and thats what I think what the founders cash is for.

Considering how popular the f2p market is at the moment I can't see this game failing before reaching the start line.

I agree....I decided to pony up because I want to be a part of the game as much as possible. I played all the previous titles growing up when online games were just getting going and have been awaiting a modern version for a long time. I am hoping that by "paying up" early I can get in on the closed beta and help debug and refine the game.

solution: don't buy games that last only 10 hours.

i get perfectly good value per 50 dollar i spend on a game. i just don't buy mainstream crap like call of duty and battlefield.

that's the problem as well, people aren't discriminating enough. they'll buy anything like a kid at a candy store. especially those steam sales. what a bunch of zombies.

I expect to get....exactly what I paid for. $120 for 4 Founder Mechs, 3 months Premium, and $80 in game money.

If it is NOT Worth it, then I will not play again.

I have right now in my video game collections:

PORTAL - Part of ORANGE BOX never played, and probably never will
Team Fortress 2 - Part of Orange Box, Played for a week if that, likely never play again.
Kingdoms of Amalur, - Unimpressed, likely never fimish
Assassins Creed (1, 2, Brotherhood) - not really my cup of tea, someday may see me back to it
Medal of Honor - Meh

So, I 'invested' a $120, I hope the game is good and successful, and I hope the DEVs do NOTHING to give what we investors paid for to the late arrivers.
