I was testing a DW on testing grounds with 2 CLPL + 2 CERML. Shooting 2 CLPLs raised the heat to 20%. Shooting 2 CERMLs raised the heat to 10%. When I fired all four lasers together, the heat went up to 37%.

What wizardry is this? I expected the total heat to be around 30% or slightly higher than that, but 37%? Is the testing ground borked or have I missed something?

Heat dissipation.

Beams deal their heat over time, so when you fire just the ERMLs, or just the LPLs, you can subtract the dissipation from the heat, but when you fire them together, there is more heat, thus the number gets bigger.

Same way firing a single laser might be heat neutral, but firing two brings you to 5%.

I thought about the same thing, except I didn't realize the difference is so big. One would think with such amount of heat build up when firing multiple lasers, that there would be no need for GH...

With 15 DHS, you dissipate heat at:

2.0+(5*0.14)*1.15=3.15 heat/second

A ML generates 4 heat in 1 second, so you gain less than 1 point of heat. If you fire two, suddenly you are gaining 5 points of heat.

It has the same effect, and it is a drastic change.
