I'm having trouble deciding what light mech to choice. I personally like fast (+120kph), small mechs prefferably with ecm.

Jenner looks nice with the speed & small posture but no ecm variant (?).

Any help would be welcome

Thanks in advance

If small is your priority, there's always the ECM Commando. Partial to the Raven myself because of the extra tonnage.

mechs that fit your criteria
Commando, 25 ton light, realy fast and manouverable, ecm varient, 150KPH+
Spider, 30 ton light, only mech with Jumpjets and ECM capable of doing 120+, if piloted well realy hard to hit, 150KPH+
Raven, 35 ton light, 1 varient with jumpjets, 1 varient with ECM, slower than Spider and coommando but still able to hit 150 with speed tweek,
Cicada, 40 ton medium, lasers and balistics, handels like a light, ECM varient, 150kph+

Honourable mentions
Jenner and Firestarter, both great fast strikers, both have Jumpjets on all cbill varients, nether have ECM, Firestarter has more weapons, and bettar hitboxes, jenner has higher max possible speed and lower profile so is better at using cover

Kit Fox, maxes out at about 107 with speed tweek, if you mount the C arm omnipod can fit ECM + 3 AMS and still have suffiscent spare tonnage for a deacent weapons loadout, can mount jumpjets if correct omnipod is fitted

Rather that getting one with ECM, learn to pilot something like a firestarter, learn scout and use a light properly before you get in the bad habit of hiding in a mech with ECM that too many new players do.

When you pick a light mech, get into the smurfy mechlab and stick in the biggest engine in you can, speed is life, never sacrfice speed over more weaponry unless there is a specific teambased reason where someone has told you to it.

But seriously, dont be another new guy that gets in a raven-3L with two ER Large lasers, hides and offers nothing to the team. Be a light mech that scouts, helps the team and when the fight happens, gets behind the enemy and harrass them from the rear.

If you want tips on light piloting i would be more than happy to help you.

The very reason i want an ecm mech, is for the scouting. When i flank around the map, people always tend to see me and proceed with hunting me down and missle spamming me. It happens quite often to me too, that a mech lights up on my screen who i didn't see with the naked eye.

After this, i just try to lead them into my team and then i harass from the sides and rear, running in between them and distracting some. But by that point, all advantage that could have been gained from scouting, is already gone ...

My all time number one favourite ride:

Cicada-3M

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...b7673c429206371

One of the most versitile mechs you will ever pilot. Fast enough to scout, robust enough to sit on the line, enough firepower to make difference and ECM to boot.

Nice, though you could still add Ferro Fibrous and nearly max. out your armour. http://mwo.smurfy-ne...4d689b55bd6339d

Personally I made a version that is build to accompany 3 Jenner F's. Come in under ECM cover, Jenners strafe enemy rear armour with the Cicada adding its lasers last and hoping to exploit any bare locations with its machinegun, which should be there considering 22 medium lasers just washed over the target. http://mwo.smurfy-ne...24f7e5fedcc22c3

Other than the new map, and finding out which of the "usual" paths the enemy took (IE Tunnel on Crimson Strait, or over the mountain)- there is not a whole lot of scouting in the game right now. (Sadly)

I am going to recommend the Commando to you. It can have the hitting power of a Jenner, and is extremely nimble. I run both Commandos and Spiders, and while the Spider has the advantage of jumping, it does not do strafing runs very well (unless you are proficient with PPC shots). The commando can unload a 20pt alpha of missiles and run away before the enemy even realizes what is happening. Spiders are either stand-off PPC/Laser snipers, or close-in circling gadflies.

FS or Jenner if you want to brawl.

Raven if you want to scout/erll poke.

Commando, Spiders for harassing/scouting.

Kitfox for fire support

Locust for the thrill of your life.

Jenners are hellafun, but if you want ECM go for a spider or raven. No JJ if you go Raven route though.

Awww...it appears you can't have ecm equipped with jump jets.

For a commando D2, is this a good build? http://mwo.smurfy-ne...a35d451d190153d

That is the standard build, and you will do well in it. I have grown tired of it, and am having trouble figuring out what else to run. LRM5s and a TAG seem like fun, but then I have no short range backup. A laser and SRMs is the same as my other COMs, so that's boring. It is a bit odd that the "best" Commando is the one gathering dust in my mechbay. Perhaps I will slap a PPC on it and finally learn how to snipe.
