Anyone else notice that one map hasn't been in rotation all weekend?

Music to my ears. Still the worst map in the game IMO. I'll take ANY map over alpine's mandatory snoozefest of one dimensional strats.

I think you always tend to get stuck on 1-3 maps per day, and won't see others, at least that's how it seems. Today I got all River City, tons of Collective, few Thermas, and the rest were nearly all Caustic. I want to believe it's random, but my stats show I hit Therma way more than anything, with I think River City both variants next, and all 3 are statistically my worst maps.

The days I feel stuck on a particular map, I always see people saying they've been stuck all day on another map, so it appears you just get a mini-rotation of the same few rather than all of them at once. I dunno, it could be totally random, i'm sure, but it never, ever feels that way. If I had my way, i'd get nothing but Crimson, Collective(once people learn how to play it, and avoid the death ramps), and Canyon...and as much as I hate Therma(for how people play it) and River City(too small for most modes), it's Frozen City that's the absolute worst when I get stuck on it all day...that fog/blizzard/whatever it is kills my and many others' FPS, making it generally a sh*tshow.

Really hope that they don't go ahead and add more weather-effects to new maps like they mentioned in one Vlog, that'd be awful, having multiple near-unplayable maps..

I wish. I think I got this map at least 20-30% of the games I played. What I haven't got is Alpine in Conquest mode which is the only fun version of the game since it is the only mode that gets people off that damn mountain.

Alpine in Conquest mode is really fun, since it's a big map and it allows fast and light mechs a chance to shine. Conquest on small maps feels sort of silly, since even Assaults can just run around and cap. That's not an option on Alpine Conquest, so I like that the map is one of few where all the weight classes have some use.

Really don't understand all the whine about maps. What, you kids can't play maps that do not support the 'counter-clockwise-merry-go-round' tactics? I know L2P comments aren't allowed, but really, just L2P. It isn't any better or worse than any other map.

It takes a fairly inflexible individual to not be able to grasp that many people want to be able to at least cross one map off the rotation, and that it's not a call to only play on maps that perfectly suit their mech.

People can hate Alpine Peaks, Terra Therma, River City Night, etc., and most of the reasons have nothing to do with not being able to play them, but simply lacking any desire to play on those maps.

Alpine is not that bad, at least it's not as hot as Caustic and doesn't have weird spawn points like River City Skirmish.

I don't know about Alpine but I'm sure that my River City, Frozen City and Forest Colony Snow drops in statistics are 22 (were the lowest rate), while Mining Collective is already 14.
Tourmaline, HPG and Terra Derpa have about twice the number of drops than the majority of other maps.

Stop playing with map priority, give all maps the equal chances.

That's good news. If I could choose (and Russ said we will be able to do so in the future), I'd never drop on a map where LRMs can dominate. Never.

If it was Mechwarrior 4 LRMS wouldnt dominate on big maps :)

Maybe. But is it a good reason to ask to get rid of those maps entirely? There are many others who like these maps.

Alpine is my favorite map. We need more like it.

We could use some more long range maps (heck, we could use more maps period), but we don't need more maps "like" Alpine. Alpine is fine if you like a map with terrible balance issues, I don't.

What we need is to fuse Alpine size and Frozen City's "City" part with places to hide besides hills.

Alpine's a fun map. I think it would be nice to see more massive maps like that, laid out in a similar vein as mining colony. However, I am looking forward to the supposed new conquest map.

It's not balanced because everyone wants the really big hill. On the rare occasion you'll get a game where the fight isn't on that hill, and it's awsome.

True, and on Assault (and to skirmish in some extent), one team spawns near the big hill, the other doesn't. Since high-ground is normally king, the team nearest to the hill has the advantage.

Doesn't mean they will win, but they have an advantage right from the start. Just poor map design.

You know that the MM can't determine between the equipment on 'Mechs. Stop blaming MM for things that you know it has no part in. Right now it's up to the player- why didn't you take ECM or NARC?

poor soul? Best map in the game, man. For lights to roam about in, and long range combat. If you're a slow brawler... I'm sure it's one of the levels in Dante's Inferno.

MWO needs more maps like Alpine, working long-range PPCs, and Gauss Rifles with no, or better made/ conceptualized de-sync that any player can use easily. Then you would start to see an actual MechWarrior game instead of stompy Quake robots with Guns.
