I am wondering what is holding the Magnetometer back. It's the Module that would let you detect Mechs behind environmental objects, albeit only at very close range and at the expense of general visibility.
It would make a great asset to supplement Thermal vision on hot maps. However, I am wondering if this is being held back by a technological barrier...
Would the developers have to re-skin the maps to determine which surfaces are permeable to the Magnetometer? Or is it just a matter of "We're doing other stuff right now, but Magnetometer wouldn't be too difficult to implement?"

MAD would be an interesting mode. But I rather they push CW out first, that'd buy time to get other things done.

In one of the podcasts they said that seismic sensor was the replacement for it, since it had more counter play and be harder to use (requires a mech to stop, gives less detail, etc).
After some thought it does seem a better solution to not invalidate cover/scouting in more urban environments.
