I'm a huge fan of the Battletech universe and I have been using it to practice my computer animation skills.

I've primarily been using Lightwave to create these but Blender and 3ds Max have also had minor roles in making them. Keep in mind that I use these videos as practice so they're not the best but they do allow me to improve over time.

I'd swear I'd seen an animation like this for Star Trek vs Star Wars vs Babylon 5 vs someone else.

There's a little sliding of the feet in Aquiline, but otherwise that one rocked. Love to see what happens after the dropship lands. :)

Nice job! But i think certain mechs look a little "thin". But animation wise all looking good execpt for the falling down of the mechs.

Thanks guys. I'm currently working on another one at the moment. I'm doing my best to make sure the animation quality is better than the previous ones. In the meantime here is another battletech animation I did before the other two. It's longer and there are more mechs. I intentionally made it somewhat silly and unrealistic.

Make sure not to over-extend the stride of the "chicken-walkers", remember there is center of gravity and balance to maintain.

I made a short one over the weekend. I am still working on two others at the moment. The first of the other two should be done in less than two weeks.

Sure, I don't know if I'll end up including it in the next two but I will make the model for future videos!

Thanks and keep up the good work and hey if battletech animated came out again you could probably help make the enhanced imaging for battletech animated series 2 or helping complete the original
and also i heard they stopped doing battletech animated because of its high expensiveness

Good stuff. I like the third one, cheesy though it may be (and in the best way possible). What was the big guy with the hammer? I was thinking some Atlas variant, but then he jump-jetted.

Looks like Mechwarrior 2 on steroids <_< I´m sure you put a lot of work into those animations and they bring back good old memories. Keep working on animations and environment, there´s still lots of room for improvement. But I admire your efforts and persistence.
In the last video I´ve seen improvements on animation and camera movement. You could use zoom and camera shake a bit more for action scenes. You might also close up a bit more on Mechs in some scenes where it´s not necessary to show them entirely. This also helps you save some time animating stuff which is not seen in certain shots.

Good but somewhat intense. I'm excelling at hard surfaces and doing just average at organics compared to the other students. We're currently learning Zbrush and have already covered Lightwave. However, we will not directly cover other modeling programs. I start animation in a month.

Any other projects going on with you?

It was an Atlas variant that I made up. I wanted the whole video to be out right ridiculous and it looks like I some what succeeded.
