Russ Bullock described the next choice of Inner Sphere light mech to be released as a "home run", and warned that no vote on the forum would be necessary. Clearly, he's pleased with his choice.

So what light mech could be described as a "home run", i.e. a perfect choice for what the game and the players need?

EDIT: I would appreciate it if this didn't turn into another Urbanmech joke thread. There's plenty of those already. And yeah, Urbanmechs are hilarious.

They even talked about it specifically in the town hall. I... would actually not be surprised by it.

I say yes to the Urban Mech... Why Not.

It couldn't possibly be anymore useless then some other Mechs right?

Urbanmech special quirk: +100% critical hit chance and +9000% critical hit damage multiplier for Small Lasers.

God dammit, I knew I should have mentioned it in the OP.

Obviously, you're joking. Russ was kind of open to the Urbanmech in the future, but it's not the droid we're looking for.

As much as I wish it was, probably not. He seemed to think the Urbie was a joke. Unless he upped his acting chops, don't expect the Urbie.

More likely?

Hussar, maybe?

Stinger or Wasp, if he managed to punch HG in the face and daze them.

I don't think the Hussar would be a home run, given that it only has weapons in its CT. That limits it to just 2 energy hardpoints in the CT, just like the Spider 5V. We all know how that ended up...

Nope. Itll be the Urbanmech. With obviously a high engine cap so people can use it...but yeah...if theres any question about it being the Urbie id be surprised.

Javelin would be cool too.

The Javelin would just be a gimped Oxide with 5 fewer tons to spend on weaponry.

If only because they would have to rework Engine Weights and HS values to fit it in.
(STD 60 engine and all)

I am highly intrigued by the though, as most of the potentials do not really scream "home run" for me

Wolfhound or Panther maybe.

Any other massively iconic lights I am forgetting?

I've called the next pack as a Clanbuster package, and the Hussar would fit that bill. I'm probably wrong though.

Fo Sho.

JVN-10N - 2 x SRM6
JVN-10N - 2 x SSRM2, 1 x SRM6
JVN-10N - 4 x Mlas

If it had SRMs in the arms, I guess that would be one thing to make it interesting. It would be a mix between a Commando and a Jenner. But it has SRMs in the torso, so it's... just a poor man's Jenner. I hope it's not the Javelin.

Not that we can use because of Harmony Gold.

But with quirks, a big buff to recycle speed and small laser range, and maybe a JJ buff, and the ability to upgrade the engine, the Urban mech would be very cool.

It really just has to have the right perks. Its one of the most popular mechs, even though its really shoddy. But then again, its also only one of the old iconic light mechs that can kill another light mech in a single hit.

The Urbanmech isn't a Macross mech, so HG isn't a problem here. The problems are just making it viable, and getting past the negative engine tonnage issue (engines rated under 100 weigh less than zero tons in MWO...).

But the Urbie is a no brainer. But so is the panther, wolfhound and javelin.

Quirks should hopefully, make all the difference. So that those mechs have their iconic roles.

Panther with a PPC cooldown quirk would certainly be fun.

Wolfhound.... oh, if it's the Wolfhound, it'll be the first Inner Sphere mech to get me excited in a long time.

The Stinger is 20 tons anyways, so avoiding it isn't really a loss.

'Home run" makes me think Urbanmech... but I'm also thinking the Flea.
