Well, no, you are right. It is called "whale" for a lot of reasons.
I highly recommend: do not lonewolf in it. You will be dead in an istant.

The thing about the Stormcrow is that it doesn't have a "niche". It can do everything and anything every other medium mech can pull off, and it does so running at 106.9 kph.

No JJs so it doesn't fill all the niches that other mediums can and lack of JJ is a pretty huge niche to be left open. Still the Stormcrow is a fun and capable medium and one that offers a wide variety of builds which means it can be customized to most peoples taste.
