Hey,
Was wondering what you guys thought of my Summoner build that I used to run since the 1st Clan Wave came out. Here's the load-out:
4x Medium Lasers
1x Guass Rifle
4x Guass Ammo
1x Double Heat Sink

Also, here's a video of me running through caustic valley with Timothy Seals Music Firemoth and Stormcrow music playing along:

Was being a little bit too greedy when I was going after that Shadow Hawk in the pit... That Dire Wolf tore my CT apart. Then later a light runs up to that same Shadow Hawk and kills it -_-

Seems a little underpowered for the tonnage to me, but if it works for ya, go for it. Got a smurfy's version of this available?

It is as good as any other build though I personally don't like the Gauss Rifle. Honestly I only see three viable builds for the Summoner.

4 x C-ER ML
1 UAC/20

4 x C-ER ML
2 UAC/5s

4 x C-ER ML
1 Gauss

And maybe if you wanted it a little cooler.

4 x C-ER ML
1 UAC/10 (If you can shoe horn in a few more DHS)

All builds for the Summoner are underpowered :(

And the meta dual-AMS'er:

Dual PPCs, ER Large, 2 AMS

As mention, the build is fine for what it is. I'd move a few tons of the gauss ammo to the head and center torso. There's no explosion risk, and if you use your left side as a shield side, the LT going down renders your gauss rifle useless.

I personally prefer the AC20 version of this build myself, but there's nothing wrong with what you have.

EDIT: Oops. No free slots in the head.

All builds are not under powered, it's not a load-out that makes it great, it's the pilot that makes it great.

Why do some players put so much armor on the rear of their mechs?

It's not hard to me to keep from getting hit from behind in most mechs, so I rarely have more than 8-12 points of armor in the back.

Yea, well, oddly enough, they usually go for the Rifle itself instead of the ammo. One time I remember running around in it, and some Jenner kept poking at me, didn't target nothing else except the Rifle. Problem was though for him, I grabbed his leg with a gauss and that was the end of that. Is it maybe that it has the Range?

I like being able to survive a dual PPC shot to the back. Personal preference. But I usually use mediums and smaller, so I'm on the run a lot.

I did go back and dig up this video from the clan tests. I remember this build being rather good for the Summoner as a jack-of-all-trades build:
4 er m. pulses, CAC5, CLRM15

Another load out with this time:
1x Large Laser
3x Medium Lasers
1x UAC 5
1x SRM 4
The rest is 2 tons of ammo for AC, 1/2 for SRMs, and then heat sinks.

Skip to 6:00 for the fight. The rest is just moving up towards the enemy slowly.

This doesn't have the TimberGod hitboxes. Larger rear torsi, that can be hit from more than one angle, unlike said TimberGod, and could use more than 2 armor.

At least 6 points.

My only comment about that is that it's devoting a lot of tonnage to weapon systems that will run dry rather quickly. As I said before, if it works for you, more power to ya. But I think you'd do more damage over a longer period of time devoting ammo space to either the CUAC or the CSRMs. And you'd be able to upgrade a bit too.

Still, you dished out some good damage there. I like how you have weapon systems that require more than one mouse button to use. ;)

Heh, funny, considering i only use a stock computer mouse and sometimes the keys on the board... anyways was having fun the match before, managed to dish out 931 dmg with the same build, except that the large laser was swapped for a ppc and less heat sinks.

The UAC/20 +4xERML build mentioned above is one of my favorites, but I also like 4xASRM6 with dual MG and dual AMS. Or drop the MG's and an AMS for a 5th SRM6.
