Halloween is coming up, and unless you plan on dressing up Fido for a picture, I am suggesting that you have your dog placed in a safe area where he or she will not be able to interact with the little monsters coming to ring your doorbell. If the dog feels threatened by someone jumping out at you when you answer the door the dog could bite or get loose on a night that you really don't want to have to go out chasing him or her.
As a former owner of a pit bull I always had to be wary of strangers coming to the door. This was a great concern to me because of the negative image people have of this wonderful breed. Trust me, a pit bull is a lot of worry. I still am concerned with the one dog I still own, making sure that my companion will be safe when dog-chase-happy-children will be about.
So this Halloween, play it safe and take care of your wonderful canine friend(s).

P.S. If you have any cats you might want to stuff the little fur-balls into a safe location also.
