Yeah, what Tzukasa said! Wait, no, people don't really dislike free stuff.

First round and I got 75 points from 4 kills 5 assists and a tonne of spotting assists.

Second 38

Third 48

Easy peasy.

How to earn points
Earn points by playing the appropriate Game mode for that day and performing these actions
  • Kill = 1 point
  • Assist = 2 points
  • Spot = 2 points
  • Tag assist = 2 points
  • Narc Assist = 2 points
  • Victory = 3 points
Revised Points system:
  • Kill = 2 points
  • Assist = 3 points
  • Spot = 3 points
  • Victory = 4 points
For more info regarding these Revisions, please refer to Paul's post: http://mwomercs.com/...arctag-bonuses/

Note:
To earn points, you must be playing the correct game mode for the day
You can play in solo or group queue.</p>

The 3 points for SPOTTING an enemy should be reduced to ONE !

Otherwise I like the changes to the points for challanges.

One thing about the format of this challenge that I don't like is that it is broken in 3, forcing us to play each day in order to get the rewards. I understand this is more than a challenge (science study for the MM) but nevertheless, it is not a "family-weekend-friendly" event, if you know what I mean.

lol.... gaming is never family friendly. a challenge should be a challenge. nothing else.
also, this thing needs 2 hrs each. doable.

It's nice that PGI is making such challenges.
But as a person who can't play at the weekend, the point of time is absolute bad chosen for me.

Make it possible, to activate the challenge over the week and I am satisfied.
I'm sad about to miss the rewards.

Devs, you missed an opportunity to make the points for victory "Complete Objective" only. So you only get the extra victory points if you win on caps (for conquest and assault, only of course. Skirmish is TDM objective regardless). I think that would have made the event a LOT more interesting and unique.

No. Every solo tourney has ALWAYS had the same complaint... people essentially BLOCKING each other to get a kill. Selfish play is in fact magnified and often times people that play solo (not necessarily being in the solo queue, but the guys that tend to do their own thing) often contribute to unfavorable outcomes in a match.

Giving Kills more value simply accelerates/generates more bad play.oring or k-d ratio and care more about WINNING, people will get better results... and generally better experiences.

... But on a serious note. Winning has always been a condition for getting additional score (both in the challenge and the tournaments) And lets be honest, even if it's conquest mode, how many games do you actually win by killing all people and how many by point victory. So in the end I am still confused why PGI has decided to rate assists higher than kills. If anything it will encourage people not to play as team because everyone is desperate not to deal the killing blow.... so.... why not just rewards kills more? e.g. 4 points. You just basically just listed down all the arguments for giving kills a higher reward than assists.

In regards to the back and forth between you two, I was thinking about this earlier today and came to the conclusion that the issue would be solved if there were points for damage as well. It sounds silly at first, but it works like this:
Kill = 2 points, Assist = 2 points, 100dmg = 1 point
Most light mechs will often win a match with 1 kill, 9 assist, and 200 dmg.
An Assault mech will often win a match with 4 kill, 3 assist, and 800 dmg.

In either case above, the player gets 22 points. The idea is that with kills and assists being equal, lights get more points because they rake in the assists and assaults get shafted because they can't possible do the same, so we add damage to level the field. Obviously the numbers will need tweaked, but I'm curious to hear your thoughts on this.

OMFG STOP Doing Events Every Dang Weekend. It's ruining mine and my unit members weekends, seriously. It splits the community, makes a huge part of my rather large friendslist and my unit list empty from people not wanting to play, and changes the playstyle/builds of the community in the Worst Possible Ways. Seriously PGI knock it off, we are so sick of only being able to enjoy the game from tuesday to thursday heh.
While I'm really enjoying the fact that we've had an event every weekend, I see the point here. Some weekday events would be nice, too. Maybe try that for your next challenge and see how it pans out. It would be a nice change for the people who work weekends and can't play Fri-Mon.

i tend to say that a challenge each weekend is almost too much already.
i feel with you guys/gals that cant play at weekend but its where most people have more time spare.
a activation option.... could be good but its propably a possibility-problem.

Yes, it's not that complicated. Nevertheless, it may be tricky because the time window is too short. For example, for me, the Sunday challenge will start at 18h and last 24h into Monday. I either have the needed time Sunday night, or else I cannot accomplish because of, well, work.

I do think that challenges every weekend is a bit too much in order for them to be valued and appreciated. In my opinion, two events per month with proper rewards, would be perfect.

I don't get some of the complaints. If you don't want to deal with the weekend puggers going for the event reward, just pick one of the other 2 modes. That seems a lot easier to avoid than a blanket server wide event.

Sigh, After running conquest last night I came to this conclusion,

The Geriatric division should only have to do half of what you young whippersnappers do to gain the reward

To tough on us oldsters, did I mention I work weekends

But must admit had lots of fun for little over an hour, THEN I wore out

people that play skirmish in a conquest and camp or move to cap with a assault make it worse.
just like crimson strait.... we were 3 lights, going over saddle to gamma. cap it, kill one mech. head to theta kill a nova. what was the rest of team doing? camping. guess what, we lost simply because they did nothing but camp. us lights went back to sigma where we started, managed to kill 2 more mechs before we died, leading in points. only 20 away from victory.

makes me sad that people can do nothing but camp at the same damn position over and over again.

Tell me, Uncle Russ: you've got a metric for Conquest games won by cap?

Or maybe "resources scored by game end," and a correlation of some kind for that metric …

<_<

anyway for the challenge I just rack up spotting assists 4-5 matches and it's done if I have some lurmers on my team :D

I think challenges should be this easy, free stuff is needed especially from new players

Man, the revised point scheme makes this ridiculously easy.

61 points in 1 PUG game by running a NARC/TAG Raven and lucking into a group that actually knows to shoot its LRMs at the designated targets.
