What he said. For an example: I had a 6-kill game this afternoon (12-10 win). Yes, I got 3* additional points for the victory, but that doesn't actually even out the 6 points I gave up because I finished off mechs and helped our team win. As Eglar notes, this leads to all kinds of goofy "leave 'em maimed" play. It's as absurd as the "I must get the last shot" play. If you set them even, there are no new** false incentives one way or the other.

*devalued from 4 in previous challenges why?
**KDR remains a false incentive, I admit that

hello,

Um, I just spent about 2 hours only on conquest and did all the math, but have no wish bone or premium time + I know I got a lot more then 200 because of the new revised points, which probably would have cut my time in half. -_-
Please help me.

Edit: nvm just had to wait close to an hour... not sure why though. Thx

Is this event some kind of sick frucking joke?

Conquest and Assault are the 2 game modes out of the 3 I choose to play. I don't like Skirmish and its death ball lurm meta **** mechanics and I never will.

However can someone please tell me why the fruck I am being stomped in every single frucking game in the solo queue?

Sync drops or what? Does this happen every single event? It is just frucking sickening how every match has gone from being relatively reasonable to just being a complete stomp on either side!

I really want to physically punch in real life the "warriors" who say "GG!!!!i1!1iIi1!!!1i1!" after these matches. Trying saying GG through a straw when you're camped behind a monitor in an electric wheelchair. Your words will slurp more than the last sloppy shizzle I did.

Not only all this but I have to sit here with my {LT-MOB-25} out fapping over porn for 5 whole minutes while I wait for a match to start!

JESUS what the ******* hell is going on???

Did they do something to the tag/narc bonus?

Not getting any...even when other people's missiles hit the narced mech

I am getting exactly the same thing. Nothing in XP, C-Bills, or on the in-game ticker.

tbh if PGI was just to encourage team play they just should have given

"Winning - 25 Points"

And that's it no kills, assists, narc, tag whatever points.

This is where you are contradicting your own statement:

In your previous post you've already stated that Kills are essentially necessary for winning most matches and I will just add that there is only Kill-Securing in this game. Even if someone is out for a Kill, he got it because others on the team could not. He got it 0.1 Seconds earlier, so the enemy could not fire one last alpha-strike.

Sure, that's fine.

So what if I act very selfish and only got assists. leaving behind enemies cored, stripped, legged - thinking that some other idiot will certainly grab the kill? What? No complaints?

The only opinion I have is this. The compunction for most people to collect a kill is far greater than those people who will avoid grabbing that kills themselves. K-D padding is still an incentive within itself.

What do you think is more egregious in terms of overall team contribution? The player that waits solely until that guy is crit and finishes him off, or the player that avoids getting the kill for the purposes of scoring? Both are doing a disservice, but having a guy that's intentionally being useless for 50+% of the match... is going to generate more ill will than the guy who refuses to collect the kill (someone else will get the kill, and pad their own stat).

Leaving people to their own devices... if kills were rewarded better than assists in the scoring, we would have more tourney-like complaining about how people completely try to deviate and solo. Better players will succeed, while the majority that we have in the queues... are going to foster lots more bad team behavior, getting themselves killed more often than not.

In any case, for the purposes of scoring... the lucrative method for the challenge is NOT SOLELY with Assists. Here's the hint... it's the reason why LRMs (and ECM) are in play. You can collect more than 12 Assists by just spotting... with TAG or NARC. While this is obviously less desirable for bigger mechs (speed to get to a match is one of them)... it's giving the smaller mechs an opportunity to benefit.

dont care

I LOVE the fact they have a challenge where every tryhard can accomplish it.

Making it 25 points win ONLY...yeah, that works so well the rest of the week, LOL.
thanks, well done challenge.
A few great teams, a few good teams and the rest I'm expected to carry to victory...or not.. :D

Played 11 matches, though that last one was optional it turned out since they changed the scoring.
Had 11 kills, 58 assists, 30 spots, and 7 wins. No tag or narcs, so I didn't notice if they counted or not (but apparently they didn't). The last match I had 1 kill, 6 assists, 5 spots, and it was a loss. Still got 35 points for it, despite it being a loss. That's 17.5%. So don't let losses piss you off. It'll happen sometimes.

Another thing: I saw people turning away from easy kills when spectating. Don't be afraid to take the kill shot. Sure, an assist is better but a win is good now and again, too.

My tied-for-second-best scoring match was the one I had 5 kills, 6 assists, 3 spots and a win. If I hadn't got the kill shots, we may not have won. I can live with missing one point per kill. Losing 4 points for the win by waiting for someone else to get all the kills (and maybe not even getting the points for an assist if the target survies the match) is a bad idea.
(my best match was 2 kill, 4 assist, NINE spot, and win in case anyone wondered, it was spotting made the difference)

My point is you can get a good score even when you have kills instead of assists, or if you lose. Be happy. Get a wishbone.

If this were St. Patrick's Day weekend, I'd see the value.

I'm not sure how Christopher Columbus feels.

Prob should have some dead skulls of some indigenous people for cockpit items as prizes for Columbus day, but that probably wouldn't go over too well...

The challenges for the weekend are awesome! I look forward to doing all three of these.

Personally, I agree with the fact that the challenges can be completed in either the solo or group queue, and I think all challenges should be executed in such a fashion. The teamwork aspects of these challenges will encourage people (even in the solo queue) to actually work together.

Prime Example: I used to use UAV's all the time and people ignored them. All I'd hear about was the incessant crying over the LRMageddon (along with accusations of no-line-of-sight-wall-hacks, and other things). Now, when I pop a UAV, people know, and people look, because the teamwork aspects of these challenges have gotten people to actually use teamwork based equipment, like UAVs. In response people have actually started looking for the employment of these items, and gameplay dynamics have improved drastically, for the better.

On top of it . . . I'm almost always in the solo queue, and that's where I've seen these effects.

Got my wishbone, next up is a Rabbit's Foot.

Really enjoying the layout of the challenge. Solo queue or group queues of any size accepted, points awarded even in loss, no need to join in on the challenge. Splitting it up by one day for each seems reasonable, though it creates a problem where a person can't do it all in one night. I'd just hope that you make a return of the Wishbone, Rabbit's Foot, and Four-Leaf Clover in the future for people who can't do it this time. I wouldn't mind a few extra rabbit feet in my cockpits ;)

They removed them for now, due to a bug, and increased other scoring methods accordingly. There's a post about it somewhere.

I'm guessing this is to get better info gathering for the different modes? Not at all a bad way to do it, rewards are always a nice incentive.

The only problem is that it is biased to specific events on specific days.. ..now it would be more objective if they ran each one on each day to see which was the most played... :) ;)

OMFG STOP Doing Events Every Dang Weekend. It's ruining mine and my unit members weekends, seriously. It splits the community, makes a huge part of my rather large friendslist and my unit list empty from people not wanting to play, and changes the playstyle/builds of the community in the Worst Possible Ways. Seriously PGI knock it off, we are so sick of only being able to enjoy the game from tuesday to thursday heh.
