One of the complaints about conquest I hear is how pointless it seems. Running up to arbitary glowing squares and accquiring generic 'resources.'

Well, replace the resource gatherers with artillery pieces that fire at targets far off the map. Change the time to capture name to "setting target" and then change resources to "damage inflicted".

The battle is now for control of several heavy artillery emplacements.

Having a friendly mech in range of the artillery allows the mechwarrior to make the cannon fire on the enemy target.

This doesn't chage how the mode is played, but it changes the flavor to something more tactical in texture and more battletech in nature.

Just an idea.

I'd like that. Makes more sense than what we have now.
  • A germanium rig is drilling for minerals.
  • If you run your mech up to the rig, you can pull your window down and convince the workers to send the fruits of their labour continuously to your faction. Or maybe text them using blue tooth, which requires that you're within 30 meters of their rig.
  • You don't even need weapons on your mech to convince the workers. You're a very smooth talker.
  • It takes about 50 seconds to convince them.
  • It takes about 2 minutes and 30 seconds if someone from the enemy team was there ahead of you and have been sweet talking the workers for a while.
  • All germanium is instantly transported to your HQ as soon as it comes out of the ground. Probably via a series of tubes.
  • You can install a module that decreased the amount of time required to convince the workers. It gives you extra charisma or something.
