Please Separate Competitive And Casual Groups

Please find a way to separate competitive and casual groups. I am so very tired of trying to have fun with friends only to play against clans like the 228th, who literally roll us time and time again.

I've seen people so upset from it they quit the entire round, and I can understand why. It doesn't feel the least bit nice to be stomped like that.

I have actually seen many a player leave group to play solo just because of how tired they are with running into that.

PS: the least you could do it warn us how badly the ELO dice are stacked against us, and giving us a greater reward if we actually do stand up against players well above our skill level. (and them, less of a reward.)

This is not a suggestion but a complaint as it is not backed up with suggestion on how competitive and casual groups can be distinguished by matchmaker

To those who get rolled repeatedly, I do understand and feel for you. But keep in mind large units like 228 and HHoD have competitive teams and some casual players. I am not a regular on the competitive drops but I join the groups during fun time often. So you may not be facing a main team just because you see 228. If your getting stomped often, still I feel for you and apologize for your difficulty, I have been on the receiving end of it a few times myself.

8 matches out of 14 vs my own friends in a 10 man, I was in a 2 man. My outlook? If I can kill at least one person and not get 12-0 it was a morale victory.

Even if I got a kill or two for my Morale victory, the personal satisfaction level is limited.

The important part is here is not individual morale victories but the *group* morale during and after these matches. One or two of these in a row and bam, half the group logs off for the night or goes into solo queue. I've seen seen groups say "should we all just disconnect now?" at the start of a game because of how much they DONT want to face that again.

I'm not saying PGI can fix this overnight, but they should acknowledge the problem and dedicating time in their plan to explore ways to reduce this, or make it rewarding enough that players are willing to endure it. .

Here's the bottom line: almost no one wants to play against the big organized well-trained Units, but PGI needs them for Community Warfare. In order to save the game (players were leaving in droves after being repeatedly curbstomped by big organized Units), PGI created a solo-only queue to keep the big Units from preying on the casual PUGs that made up the vast majority of players. However, they also wanted to retain the big organized Units who were not playing because they had to wait forever to find a match for their 12-man teams or were being limited to 4-man teams. Someone had to get the shaft and I suspect rather than sticking it to the solo players (who are by far the most numerous) or the big organized Units (who are the biggest spenders of real money per player), they decided the short end of the stick would go to the small casual groups (who are neither the most numerous nor the biggest spenders).

The only solution I can see on the horizon is PGI rolling out Community Warfare as soon as possible. Hopefully, most of those big, organized and well-trained Units no one wants to play with will all migrate there during peak hours (which is when CW is planned to be held), leaving the group queue mostly to small, casual groups.

They make these things called PVT Lobbies.....You even get EXP and Cbills in them now!

One way to distinguish competitive groups from Casual groups is with Average Match scores. If Individual and Groups Average Match Scores were tracked in stats per mech like many other stats are tracked, then it should not be difficult to combine that with the Elo rating system currently in use and pit folks up against similarly skilled individuals or teams.

I have been wanting separate groups for a while now. They really need a way to have you set your profile for either competing in "ladder" or "non-ladder" matches. This way those of us who are casual players dont have to worry about ELO and be able to team up with our friends and not get roflstomped by comp players.

Every game that I am familiar with has the ability to set the game mode for basic, normal and extreme play. MWO shouldn't be any different.

Let's not dance around it, many of the competitive players LIKE to stomp the pugs. They brag about it all the time.

It's ridiculous for casual players to be thrown in with the best players in the game. They don't have fun and end up leaving. I know and respect many of the competitive players and I know they have put a lot into the game. But, there has to be a way for the casual player to separate himself from the competitive player (in the cue) beyond the single play drop or relying on the game match system. It's needed for the overall well being of the game and to retain players long term.
