I'll give it a try WintersDark. I've had really bad luck trying that with gauss rifles but maybe I've just been going about in the wrong way.

What exactly is your aiming strategy when the screenshake and lag hit so I can understand.

I know mine.
1. Find offending red Dorito.
2. Hit "R".
3. Center screen on the box.
4. Return fire.

I have motion blur turned off because it makes no sense. Anything moving fast enough blurs already. When missiles are involved, it gets a little harder, but if my screen is getting that bad I usually have half a company shooting at me.

I get some FPS drop when taking heavy fire, but never lag.

We need a harsh language module. If the nerfhearders had their way that is all we would have left.

Prepare the testy letter!

Forum whiners, mechanic changes, and nerfs are ruining the game. STFU.

Well if there's no problem with the weapon or damage effects, I guess we can add motion blur to all ACs, PPCs, and Gauss rifles, right? I mean, if your vision is blurring because of the kinetic energy from being impacted by projectiles moving at 160m/s, it would make sense your vision would blur when being impacted by weapons that go 5-10x faster, correct?

Then we can all celebrate as nobody can hit anything when taking any return fire.

Tx JDR and WintersDark. I see what you are saying and I agree that is not a problem.

Really when I notice dedicate lag as opposed to screenshake is when I am hit by a dakka whale 5ac5 build or LRM spam from multiple mechs. Sometimes art strikes can as well but they are not as much of a problem.

As I say I have a pretty nice video card; maybe I just need to turn down my settings regardless.

Impact blur and screenshake is overdone but PGI seems to think its immersive.

Not that immersive....Its like were stuffed into a can of marbles and shaken viciously....rather then we were just hit by a barrage of missiles....

Despite the weak OP

The "impulse" of all the weapons that have high impulse settings...are way to freaking high.

If youre going to get a stream of lrms and dakkadakka, at least for the love of god dont make it so its like im going through an earthquake.

What sense does it make that my cockpit is shaking all over creation while my mech just stands there with no physical "shake". The only thing I see cause one is an AC/20...

Yet the impulse for the AC/20 isnt nearly as bad as getting hit by an LRM10?

WTF?! If were scaling up realistically...an AC/20 should spin most mechs around where they stand. But it doesnt even throw off someones aim.

But a constant stream of LRM5s?

Shake city.

I've got a pretty super computer (SLI'd high end NVIDIA cards with a devil's canyon i7 CPU), and my FPS drops terribly whenever the effects for being shot by a lot of missiles or ballistic start rolling. I'm talking drops from 120fps to like, the teens.

3d rendering stuff while the POV camera is shaking requires a lot of calculations if you kept it at high detail. Think how hard it is to draw a circle in a car on a rough road. The CPU has to compensate updating locations of mechs and effects in relation to the landscape and the shaking camera. Blurring actually reduces the calculations. I think working as intended.

I don't like being on the receiving end of screenshake - but I think it's good for the game. A game has to have some frustrating challenges.

If i am being dakkaed so hard i can hardly aim i am not going to be shooting back much anyway because it means i would be facing directly at a beast of a mech in regards to firepower like a Daishi.

This would be the time to start armour rolling and get to cover and attack from another angle.

LRMs are harder though, but again if you are being chain fired or hit so hard you cant see you are probably out of position so badly you need to stop shooting and start moving to get the missiles to spread all over you.

Apart from that follow what Wintersdark said if you cannot reposition, or you need to snap shoot while you are repositioning.

All i can say is i dont often get that much shake and when i do i am usually toast anyway or i am fleeing for cover because it would be a losing game of attrition if i stayed.

But not for the apparent reason you normally hear people complain about (Granted I do think the LRM and ECM situation sucks right now).

No, the real reason they ruin the game is that when they hit you earthquake simulator begins and the game lags terribly. I have 22 ping typically and a nice video card but still lag up horribly when any one of these hit me.

I can literally no longer shoot back or see what is happening. The LRM spam, art spam, and dakka dakka direwolf simply make the game unplayable at points. As an example, it is reasonable that an AC5 direwolf will beat my gauss direwolf, he is a dedicated gauss counter mech; what is not reasonable is that I never get a chance to shoot back as the lag is so bad I just have to fall back frantically twirling my torso around.

Any thoughts or should I just L2P?

You can shoot back you know. Even when the screen is shaking, your aim will not waver--you will still shoot at wherever your cursor is at.

Man up and return fire. I totally agree with the above statement. I have gotten many kills, especially against Jagers, when they stand there and pummel me with fire. R 'em up, center your cursor in the box, kill the ******.
