Battletech operates on something greater than real world common sense. It's called Rule of Cool. Why do we play games where we duke it out in giant man shaped robots? Because it's awesome.

Frankly, I think the best thing PGI could include to widen the game as a Mechwarrior title would be melee combat. It's been missing in all Mechwarrior games, but was a huge part of Battletech proper. And you'll decide you want that humanoid arm when an Atlas decides to pick up your raven and use it like a bludgeon. And why? Because it's cool.

bets manly trained arms in whole MWO, how dare you to say that! Ever seen stormcrow arms and hands? Thats is actually pitiful, they look more like devices to piece something or drill themselves into the opponent.

This is a fantasy game, based on a concept developed in the early 80s. Very little of it "makes sense" in a tactical or technological standpoint.

There's a game for you out there. I believe it is called Hawken. ;)

You want designs that do not fit BattleTech's lore, style, its own sense or really anything aesthetically pleasing. You want something realistic in an extremely unrealistic setting.

And, I emphasize 'you' here- there are plenty of 'Mechs from BT still to be added, and there's no reason to add in these 'other' 'Mech ideas of yours. I don't think anybody really wants non-BattleTech 'Mechs. This is a BattleTech game, it will always be that, and no, games do not magically morph into what you consider to make 'sense'.

Hawken mechs is less realistic than in MWO. And they're look like toys.
Mech on my picture can remind hawken only because of short legs. But torso design is canonical for mechwarrior(looks like little catapult).

Game / Video Game philosophy 101: If its cool looking, realism be damned.

ODONATA, no argument you make will nullify that basic concept. Humanoid mech designs are popular not because they are realistic. They are popular because they look cool and people can identify with them.

Going by your logic, that in reality we'd never see the mechs we have, then MW:O should be redesigned so we're launching missiles from a mile or two away with out every seeing the enemy.

Your basic premise ODONATA is flawed. Realism has no place in this science fiction game. Definition of fiction: invention or fabrication as opposed to fact.

This is a science fiction game, not a science fact game.

One note, totally unrealistic. Who in their right mind would design a war machine were the operator sits dead center behind some glass?

Edit to add: Since you want to see these types of unrealistic mechs in the game, then the unrealistic nature of humanoid mechs are also fair game.

They do become Battletech mechs, but are considered Apocryphal. In other words, unless the owner of BATTLETECH copyrights, aka Catalyst Labs (?), says "Yep, it's Canon", it is not BT Canon.

There's been examples of this. For example, the Aeron VTOL showed up in a Mechwarrior game before it was canonized in a TRO, if I recall correctly. It is considered canon, now, but it wasn't when it went into the game.
