My tall and lean Shadow Hawks take forever to die thanks to JJs, even though they have XL engine. With some TT-ing and jumping around, it spreads damage like a Light. Since the Grasshopper also has slim profile and JJs, it is gonna be another just-wont-die type of mech. :) Looking forward to it.

Can't believe no one has said it yet, but it has got to be the spider 5D.

yes its an XL and yes it doesn't actually live below 30% all that often - but the amount of firepower you need to throw at one of these is plain stupid.

I played on HPG once, we were balled up, the enemy was balled up just around the corner.

I ran through - dropped arty, dropped UAV and danced the field of 12 mechs focusing on me until my UAV ran out - not died - ran out. I came out with 42 % health after being focused for at least half of that time by the entire enemy team. I reckon they did more to each other than me.

After that my team rolled through - smashed em all in the back and we won 12-0.

I find i can get the Summoners down to 15% or less most matches.

what does shock me is the number of times i can et my whale to under 20% and still live. Though it must be said 20% on a whale is still like kinda full health for a locust for the damage it can still take

Thunderbolts and Battlemasters. Just leave the XL in the garage.

STD don't die losing a torso, but XL usually runs faster, and in my experience speed and torso twist is the best armor. That's why I run too many XLs lately, but still I get stripped of armor all over pretty often in any mech. Can't say that some mechs live much longer than others.. I guess it's mostly a prejudice, a theory, based on mechs' hardpoints and quirks. In reality, say, Griffin with a shield arm + shield torso is not so tanky, at least i haven't noticed people live in it for much longer than in other mechs.

Recently I got my TDR's XL torso pinpointed in the beginning of the match to the red armor, I ended a match alive (with 2 teammates) with this torso having bright red internals and only a bit armor left on one leg and cockpit.

The tankiest mechs seem to be Assaults anyway, just for the immense bulk of Internal Structure aka second armor.
But they lack mobility, and i find it much easier to destroy Assaults than some Firestarter or Spider that seem to shrug off most of the laser fire, not to mention that it's actually hard to hit them. Still, ACs and missiles work nice on them.

My Stormcrow. It just keeps going and going.

As far as killing its hands down Stalkers. They just take ridiculous damage and don't stop it seems. The Rocky Balboa of mechs.

Locust.
It won't die. It simply dissolves if you aim something like a TAG laser at it, or it just falls appart when a Gauss bullet flys by.
So, basically, you are already dead when you set a foot in a Locust.
Just make sure to bring enough duct tape.

No, I totally agree. It takes some practice, but you can make these little guys very durable with some skilled torso twisting and jittering. The only thing that invalidates it is dual gauss... that config is so unfair. It instantly takes off arms and legs from the little guy and requires almost no timing or steady aim. I can introduce new players to the game and they will be getting kills in no time with the "light eraser."

I feel bad when I play my Ilya with 2xgauss just because it's so easy to kill lights.

I consistently find myself armless, torsoless, and limping into battle with two mechs

My Catapult "2ML" C1 and my Jagermech "LB20" S. I am going to either ram you in my jager or continue pouring 2ML into you with my Catapult.

Of the mechs I've mastered:

My Splatcat in closed beta. Maybe it was bad hitreg, or bad players (or both). But I would also have all my armor gone before I would die from any side torso dieing. I had a few times where I would have 3-4 players chasing me, but I would be too fast due to 315 XL engine and Jumpjets (there's a lot more fast mechs on the field now). A few times some people in the chat said "WHY WON'T YOU DIE" or "HOW ARE YOU STILL ALIVE!?". Anytime I got Splatcat on River City it was practicly a guarunteed win.

I've only piloted it a couple times recently since I normally just focus on leveling mechs, and I only ambushed a few times in the times I piloted it, so I didn't really get shot much. Still can 2 shot an Atlas from behind to strip it :P

Blackjack is another mech that makes me feel unkillable, but situationally. Give me a good position where I can hill-hump, and the enemy will never be able to shoot me because I expose so little the enemy ends up shooting the ground 95% of the time.

Been using the Centurion as a zombie. 3/4 of the time I feel like I last forever, the other 1/4 of the time is when I get overconfident and get my face stomped on (usually dieing from the front CT, when I'm facing away from the enemy).

I want to say Thunderbolt because those shield arms are so sweet. Though saying the Thunderbolt feels unkillable is a bit of a stretch as it's too slow, and it's weapons aren't that impressive to me.

The following feel like they die easily to me:
Atlas: Too slow to turn it's torso, and it's easy to hit whatever you want on it (Don't blame it on skill either, I've never had a problem hitting enemy atlases wherever I need to either)
Cataphract (especially 4X): Easy to hit side torsos (At least for me, seems not to be the case for most people strangely) + Center torsos, and is generally slow. Probably a good thing because of their damage though
Wolverine: My legs, WHY DOES EVERYONE GO FOR MY LEGS IN THIS MECH!?!?! Also it always felt like my legs got 1-2 shotted in this mech too (I didn't have legs in the ammo either).
Trebuchet: Size of an assault, easy to hit stuff, with the armor of a medium. Due to the gigantic size I basically made this mech LRM focused except for the 7k (which I could hillhump with somewhat decently due to rather high hardpoints).
Kit Fox (AKA Mobile ECM Assault support): 20 Damage alpha isn't exactly impressive, especially with how slow + Lightly armored the Kit Fox is, I was basically just hanging near allies hoping to be unnoticed (which works 90% of the time)

Probably "Big Daddy" my Phoenix TDR. I'm not sure what it is about that mech, but it's survived GR Direwhales, Splat Timberwolfs, Splat Dogs, Stalkers, Atlai and god knows what else.

We always joke that when I don't feel like dying I get in my TDRs. They spread damage very well with the torso sizes and the arms make great shields.

Or maybe my 1G BLR.

i took a trial cataphract for a spin for yits and giggles and first match i dropped in it i survived under fire from 4+ enemies for a good minute, a few of them even said they stopped firing a few times because they assumed i was dead (i wasnt)

when i finally died the only things i had left was my cockpit a side torso and 1 leg all with no armor and in the red (even the cockpit)
