I'd love to gift colors for my unit mates.

It would open the "hack an account and empty it" floodgates - probably would result in more problems than benefits.

Wish we could gift stuff from direct purchases rather than what we have in our inventory. That'd be like trading.

I suggested a while back that PGI allows player-to-player transactions, like selling your mechs or equipment to another player as "pre-owned" and charge a transaction fee in MC (micro-transaction! HELLO?) I mean, if I sell a mech now, it's GONE! I would much rather have the ability to sell my customized and upgraded mech to some poor greenhorn mechwarrior so he can benefit from my mech building skills :P

I wouldn't want this kind of transaction. Direct purchase as a gift, I could get behind. I don't want to log into my account one day and find I have nothing left in my mech bay.

Huh? What do you mean? Like someone hacked into your account and sell all your stuff?

Do it like WG Does it.
They have a Gift Shop, you buy something and enter the players name that gets it. The player gets an email to accept and its done.

That system works pretty damn good for the years its been in play. As for gifting time, well if its existing on an account I am against that (ie. as others have said, hacking and such), but gifting MC and things along those lines should be fesible.

Well, since a transaction will require an MC fee from both parties, they can trace who stole your stuff. There WILL be a trail of where your stuff goes. I mean, if your account gets hacked now, the hacker can just sell all your stuff and it's GONE.

The hassle I have to go through in order to have my stuff returned in either case far outweighs any benefit to gifting as you have described.

But it has nothing to do with having the transaction ability. If your account gets hacked, you'll lose your stuff (if the hacker so inclined). Everyone runs that risk now.

What I described isn't gifting. It's a way for players to buy and sell stuff. It's a micro-transaction economy that will fuel MC sales for PGI, and therefore an additional way to keep the game and development going.

Right now there's no reason to hack, you gain no benefits from doing so.

Sure there is... you don't like somebody, you hack their account and screw them up.

What I'm suggesting isn't unheard of. I'm sure plenty of other games already has that ability.

True, but it's too much hassle to just screw someone up. It becomes a completely different ballgame if there is a financial benefit involved, you'll get RMT shops on the scene in no time and those guys do this sort of crap for a living.

I can see your point if MCs can be converted back to cash, but it can't. The only people who gains anything financially is PGI from selling MCs. If PGI restricts the transactions to only c-bill purchased items, such as mechs and weapons, there is no financial benefit to hacking someone's account.

Errr.... sorry. c-bills definitely do not equal MC. I have 100 million c-bills right now, and if you can tell me how I can converted that to MCs, I'd be very grateful.

You can buy things with c-bills which could then be gifted to someone under your proposal at a rate more favorable than buying the c-bills for MC in some cases.
