Screen Shake Eliminate Please

Head hits = lots of screen shake.
Body hits = A little screen shake to know you're being hit but not enough to prevent return fire.
PGI needs to consider the "prevention of return fire" as part of a weapon systems.

Some of us have been saying that for a long time. Why does my cockpit shake when you hit my torso in an Atlas? Big mechs should shake less than small mechs. On the low end of the spectrum an AC/20 should knock over a light and an AC/5 should rock him pretty bad. On the high end of the spectrum an Atlas or Direwolf should only shake if you hit them in the head with an AC/5 or in the torso with an AC/20 (for about the same shake).

I mean anything that makes the game more interesting and more dynamic seems to be unpopular. I mean while we are at it lets remove the graphic for lasers because when they hit your cockpit it is hard to see. I know lets remove cover because it is inconvenient not having a clear line of sight when I am trying to shoot an enemy.
I mean honestly don't you all realize how vanilla and boring the game would be if different weapons didn't have different effects? I mean I use a UAC/2 on one of my support mechs for the sole purpose of using it for suppression. I have even backed off a Dire Wolves with it because the constant hit and shake panics them and makes them look for cover. This is a valid tactic that makes the game interesting.
Anyway, the game you all want to seem to play is a game I would quit in an instant. I absolutely don't want everything easy mode, bland and uninteresting.

Not the point.
Point is every just wants things to be easy. LRMs for example. There are so many hard counters to LRMs it isn't funny. You have my favorite, breaking line of sight...gee hard right, then there is another favorite...tall hills and building. Then there is the Radar Deprivation module and oh ECM but that requires you to actually pay attention to where your ECM mechs are standing and make sure your inside their envelop OR...... You can stand out in the open, away from any cover or ECM and just complain about how OPed LRMs are.
I mean that is like complaining that lasers are OPed because your getting shot by lasers when you stand out in the open in front of the enemy.
I view the AC screen shake as the same sort of thing. Sure it sucks when I am getting shook and rocked around but that just makes the game exciting because at that point the game gets just a little harder and becomes more of an interesting challenge.

Ridiculous reasoning.
Getting shot in the leg, and having your screen shake...is bloody stupid.

With this argument you just voted get blinded when a Laser Hits your back.
Nobody in this post wants to remove the shake. Thats the reason i am participating in this one and not one of the others.
We want it to be more reasonable. Shooting somebody in the Face to get him disoriantated is a valid strategy for sure.
Just with ACs you don't even have to hit the Cockpit. And thats the point.

The thing of it is, I already think it is reasonable. I mean your talking say a 200mm shell filled with High Explosive (likely much more potent HE that even C-4 is today) hitting an mech standing upright that doesn't weight more than 100 tons. I mean a near miss with a large 155mm shell can flip a 70 Ton Abrams tank and your saying similar shells directly hitting a 70 ton Cataphracht with a much higher center of gravity, should just feel like love taps?
Sorry what we have is more than reasonable.

I like shake as is and should be used as a base for the changes.
You should feel shake if it hits you in any mech anywhere. Greater shake if it hits the head ~ +5%
Shake should be set at the base value then have a quirk change follow something similar to this.
<-- Assault -10% -- Heavies -5% --BASE(50tonne)-- to 40Tonne + 5% -- Lights +10% -->
Smoke should be seen if it hits you in the head, CT, RT or LT. Flash if the CT or head.

I don't think localizing the shake effect to body parts is worth it, to be honest.

The visceral impact of screen shake is what helps set this game apart from its mod-built wannabes.
