just scanned the two pages of answers/sidetracking posts and would like to add the following:

- offering your help is chivalrous and everything
- offering links to 3rd party tools is spot on helpful
- mentioning ts3 servers because L2P reasons is useful (even if it requires some kind of extrovert skillset which might be not what everyone is wearing)

and now ... try to imagine this forum did not exist. and then try to argue about his post.

just my 2 cents

But it does, which is one reason why the devs haven't put more work into the tutorial etc. Seasoned gamers will know to check the forums, and the ones who can't figure out how to get to the website and thus the forums.....well those are the derps in the solo queue ;)

Tutorial, horrid. Instructions for building mechs equally so. This game is a nightmare for a new player. How do you expect someone to grasp the basics of this game? Seriously....

Dear Arcanum Pax, I know what you are talking about. I also started as a rookie here. But it is a "community based" game that means you can ask here in the forum if you have any questions regarding this game. Trust me there lots of competent users here who can help you. You can also visit youtube, because there are lots of videos/tutorials about this game.

But as a "more experienced" player (if you want) I have to add something different. Unfortunately I have another problem with this game. After the time it really gets boring because from my point of view this game is rather monotone than difficult.

good lord there has never been anything mechwarrior since mw2 to even approach how GREAT that game was. sadly i doubt anything ever will again :(

I dunno. MW2 mercs I heard was better. Though what I really miss is Mechwarrior 3. Better weapon design, far better mechs in terms of both design and how they fight. Very fair aiming system (mouse on screen + torso twist), though it had a problem of pinpoint convergence, the firing rates were quite a bit slower so it didn't matter too much. Burst fire ACs and UACs, slow to fire PPCs, super hot ER LLs (like they're supposed to be), and dead on ranges (270 was 270, nothing more).

Campaigns were pretty detailed too. Computer voice was obnoxious but efficient.
What I'd like to do is mix the greats with a bit more simulator-esque elements to create a more BT experience instead of an MW experience.

But on a side note...
MW2's voice(s) in MWO.

MW3's voice in MWO (I went overboard with targeting).

MW3 + MWO's original closed beta voice in a somewhat more current MWO.

The third one is my favorite. A good, solid twin computer system. One voice to give combat status, another to give standard information.

I don't find it unintiutive at all. Sure I can agree if you talk about the finer points but anyone can be up and running in about 10-15 minutes and start plinking away.

Heck I come from SWG, after 7 years of playing there were still things that I didn't know about the game mechanics but it wasn't hard to get the basic principles in order to get started.

3 pages on, and the OP still hasn't responded. Seems like a waste of effort to go further on this thread.

Yet we plod on wastefully regardless of effort. Perhaps we owe the OP a few more days, being disgruntled, they may have taken a break or perhaps the night of posting lead to a moment of realization followed by a three day of straight MWO binge sessions?

The OP was their first and only post.

That is correct, but has absolutely no effect on the postulation and is a bit obvious.

You should not go around asking for peoples threads be closed just because you find them to have been made in frustration. Perhaps the OP will return in a few more days and have more to add or perhaps they have moved on to never return? As its only been a few days, closing the thread now would be a little premature.

Well there are lots of closed threads like this! I'm just sick of all these threads with complains. They are countless here in the forum, tiring and annoying as well.

Thats when you read other threads or log out and have a break.

We don't post for the OP's sake alone. There are many other players that come to the forums, and some of them might stumble upon this thread, and our responses can shed light on some things they are going through. As such, I see no problem with keeping this thread alive, even if the OP isn't here anymore. Or is taking a break.
