Yep, but this isn't it. Now if they gave you negatives for mounting anything BUT stock loadouts, that would probably cross that line. This encourages but doesn't limit.

As I have pointed out multiple times that even if someone decides that the HBK-4G just HAS to run with an AC/20 to maximize it's buff potential, there is still a solid buff for all it's other hardpoints that they can customize. They can add in SLs and more AC ammo, a Single LL, MPLs, SPLs, add a tag to help a teammate's LRMs, throw on a PPC with the AC/20 and maybe sacrifice engine for more punch. Tons of varieties of AC/20 HB-4G.

or run an HBK-4H instead if the gotta have that ac10. So now instead of only seeing ONE variant of a certain chassis being used, depending on preference and playstyle, different chassis variant swill appeal more to different players.

Neg. Dragon is a heavy mech and Shadowhawks are meds. And you're assuming there's NOTHING ELSE in the heavy weight class that's better. I encourage you to look at this from all angles before saying nonsense like this.

Considering that the Dragon-1N is currently a one-trick pony who's big trick is "Taking up a heavy slot and being less useful than pretty much any other option" I'd call that an improvement. Just my 2 cents.

I'd say that turning non-competitive mechs into one-trick ponies that have a chance at being useful is FAR superior then seeing the same 'meta' mechs over and over, or the same damn loadout on 6 mechs. That's more boring to me. But, that's a matter of opinion.

I also don't like having three variants that I basically put the same exact loadout on because it fits in all three and is the 'best' loadout for that mech. Having quicks means I would seriously consider playing all three variants differently.

Looks good.

Thats IF I got it right, lol.

But the Chassis is the sensible first % as it is tied directly to the mech
Skill Tree is also largely tied to the chassis,
where modules are a final add on that can be removed and swapped, thus being the sensible last %. But that is only if things are done logically, which I do not promise, lol.

Bishop, someone beat you to it.

Check this Centurion Retrofit thread post. They stack.

Russ can you please confirm whether or not all cooldown modifiers are additive?

i.e. 25% (T5Quirk) + 5% (FF) + 12% (T5 Mod) = -42%

Missile doors are removed at least for now - the complexity of shifting doors to fit anything from 2-18+? depending on load out is not something we have the capability of doing currently in mechlab visual customization

Yes they stack up - math will become obvious especially with the range indicator when this launches

he simply said that they stack, not that they were addictive like Ultimate asked. So I don't really know if that is "definitive".

Stacking in and of itself simply means they all work together. Not really how the percentages factor.

Yes, exactly. I am anxiously awaiting the Commando quirks since there is some interesting differences between the variants with some using LLs and others focusing on SRMs. So instead of throwing a PPC on one arm and a ML on the other for EVERY Commando I played after a while(as light mechs became easier to hit and CC a bit deadly for them) I can run other weapons with some benefits to them.

Tis the plan.

Would be the only people I know of that apply %s in an additive manner if they do. But doesn't mean they don't either, which is why my own posts have disclaimers on the matter.

Yeah...
They buff variant diversity, but very well may limit in-build diversity.

Hope springs eternal. I ran my 3L last night with NARC, TAG and 2 ML's..and 42 ammo...I had several games under 100 dmg...but I also brought 5 teammates with mixed loadouts and each with at least an LRM20.

Low damage numbers on my end...but ALL THE ASSISTS...and was particularly gratified to see one dude write in chat "I don't know who was NARCing but you lit up EVERYTHING. Nice dude."

Maybe if the quirks come through I'll actually buy the other two Ravens and get my 3L past basic. Lol.

Hahahh that was you :)
That would have been me thanking you, since ironically I brought my massive LRM boat to the fight.
It was the first time ever that I had TOO many Narc'd targets to shoot. I poor LRM launchers were HOT red from the constant firing lol.

These buffs along with camo, colors, upcomming decals, modules and skill tree will allow the players to create truly unique Battle and Omni mechs. Thats a large part of what makes up the character of Mechwarrior and Battletech.

No game has got that right since the original board game, Wolf's Dragoons etc, Aerotech, Citytech in my opinion.

The TT and lore guys should be extremely happy straight up.

The new idea floating around about having an option to make any mech "lesser hero mechs" is a good one to and I have a hero mech.

Side note if they allow players to make hero mechs they should also have the name of any made hero mechs reserved. Just an idea. Thats something every Mechwarrior worth his salt would be in on. Day 1 here. Just dont let it mess up the on field UI to much pls.

Of course they will. The alternative which we see right now is that there is no build variety in mechs like the HBK-4G because we don't see ANY HBK-4G builds on the field at all. ;)

The risk is of creating one trick ponies out of currently not competitive mechs, see the Dragon 1N for example, it will be able to mount 2 AC5 firing as fast as AC2 after mounting the module. We will see a lot of those limiting the use of AC5 on anything else.

The 1N itself will no more be useless but will limit everything else from using AC5s. This is the reduced variety we could get from overdone quirks.

I don't remember last time I saw a Dragon....
Joking, of course, but I really think that with these quirks we'll see more diversity on the battlefield.
And about the thread: customization---->different variants of a chassis.
It is lore.
It is good!

This. So much this.

You now have a reason to own more than one variant of a mech besides leveling. I know some people see this as a cashgrab, but, better encouraging people to drop a few dollars on mechbays than have 200 mechs that can all be reduced to 5 templates, reskined to infinity.

It's a Tier 3 mech... with JJs. It gets 2 quirks because of that. So they could go with a MUCH lower generic buff to Lasers or give you a specific buff with LLs. "Damn it. I wanted pudding with my free cake and they just gave me free cake."

Yes. The Jester has Jumpjets. Two of them. And the largest Engine of all the Catapults.

In return it has a 20% Decrease in Torso Yaw and a 15% decrease to Arm pitch. I: IT'S ALREADY BEEN HIT BECAUSE OF THE JUMPJETS. It has worse torso twist then the C1, with FOUR energy Slots, FOUR JUMPJETS AND TWO MISSILE SLOTS.

It's already friggin' Gimped because it has Jumpjets, and now It's getting F***ed harder because of them.

I for one like what they have planed, I will use these quirks to play these mechs as they should have been played, I have had it up to here with the cookie cutter build, all the whiner who now cry but my build is no longer useful should learn to read, you can still run you "normal" builds, you just will not get all the benifits simple as that.

Ignore the spoilt brat small minded whiners if you please PGI and keep this up, at far as this old BT player is concerned you are barking up the right tree.

You may have missed the quote earlier in his posts but With the positive quirks, all negitive ones are being flushed from all mechs if it has any.

I've collected a lot of mechs and at least half of them never see the light of day because they were bought to skill up a chassis and don't offer a different play experience than another mech.

This...change...is...awesome!

Just the motivation to go and really try and use different weapons or familiar weapons on a different platform is huge for me. It's human nature to fall back on the familiar and this is a nice shakeup to that tendency. I'll probably go back and fill out my collection of old mechs because the fourth or fifth variant may have significantly different feel to its brethren.

Right now I'm skilling up on Kintaros, and a Kintaro is a Kintaro is a Kintaro. But after quirk pass, you might have an SRM Kintaro, a Streak Kintaro, and and LRM Kintaro and I can see getting use and enjoyment out of each instead of picking one and letting the others collect dust.

For me it encourages customization in that I'm going to get a lot more familiar with weapon systems on a lot more chassis, and that's going to add tools to my toolbox when it comes time to tweak my own builds.

Except it's not listed as a "quirk" it's part of the hard stats for the chassis. Look at it's quirks in game. There are none.

Yeah.
