A couple of points:

1) I love the paintjob, the shield arm truly looks like a shield - yeah for distinguishing mech features - and the quirks are looking good for the Centurion.

2) As they said, big guns will look bigger in the end, but also keep in mind that the main weakness of the Centurion in this game was always "it loses the gun arm too quickly." Heck, the primary "good" builds for Centurions often put no weapons in that arm because it tended to fall off it you looked at it the wrong way.

Making the gun arm a bit smaller is a way to mitigate that weakness to some level, so I'm good with it.

I know they made the right arm look smaller, but are the hitboxes changed too? Who knows, I sure don't.

I'd assume so, though admittedly I don't have proof of that.

Still, even a 10% reduction in arm hitbox size might let your arm live for one or two more shots, and that might matter.

I'm not a fan of the strong hand look that it has now. I was sort of hoping for something closer to the original, guess the money is spent...

Oh damn, with that cooldown buff, the Cent is gonna be like a YLW, just one gun, two meanbeams and lots of ammo and speed.
LBX10, 4.5t ammo, 2ML, and XL340 with full armor to take that nearly 1.0second cooldown LBX into the face of all these mechs around the corner at 121kph!
Straving run baby!
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...7669836a4ec2241
or the slightly slower version with 2SRM4 and less ammo
using 3t LBXammo and 1.5t SRM4 ammo with an XL300 giving it 107kph.

I love the new (ok, returned) Cent. And the more I look at it's new "camo" pattern, the more I like it. Lots of great details and accents. I guess I don't get as worked up about it's arm as others have, and the cannons will get a scaling rework down the road. Overall, I'd say "Nice Job" PGI.

Looking forward to taking this one to the field, especially with the quirk reworks for the Cents (and other IS mechs) incoming.

So keep up the good work PGI, progress with content, improved communications, and nice gestures like the variants being released for paying customers, all this will lead to my wallet opening farther and more often.

Russ,

The new gun arm is HORRIBLE. And it has nothing to do with weapon sizing.

Missile bay doors really should be brought back in.

The rest of the 'mech looks very good.

So we won't forget, this is what we're trading away from with the new mains-plug geometry:

For what it's worth, I'm not a fan of the Right Arm, and was hoping that a little more creativity was able to be put into the shape. I'm sorry, but these extruded rectangles are becoming a step backwards.

I hope that the AC/20, or any other single AC, utilizes the old arm model instead but shows respective barrel sizes.

REST IN PEACE.

EDIT:

It doesn't feel nearly as balanced now. At least they reskinned the shield arm and updated the missile doors..

Missile door remap hasn't worked in quite a while for me, I would love to lose the door without the damage hit, I used to be able to open and close it at will with my mouse remap, miss that. You want data on a cent? i have about 4000 games in one.

With the first few spoilers from Russ about the quirks, I decided to create these new charts to show dps, hps, ranges and cooldowns for the default values / plus module / plus 20%, 25% and 40%.

The Table with all values:

A quick post to show you a screen shot with the new loyalty centurion sporting a dual AC5 configuration. All centurions will enjoy this new mechlab treatment.

I also wanted to let you know about a known scaling issue before the mech goes live. The dual AC 5 and other builds look great as you can see - however when sporting an AC20 the scaling is MUCH to small, we are aware of it and plan to make some changes.

I do not have an ETA yet but in the meantime enjoy the visual customization and smaller hitbox on the AC20.

Thank you for this post, thank you for the information about the AC20 issue. and THANK YOU FOR THE INCREASE IN POSTING ON YOUR OWN FORUM.

If that was celtic art on a mech called the Centurion I'd take it as a personal insult and do anything, even throw games just to kill them on sight

Fortunately it's germanic so it's not my problem :P

I need to go back and edit my post. My Buddy Bishop Steiner already called me out on it.
