The loyalty skin especially looks excellent.
As for the retrofit - I'm afraid I'm among the ranks of those who find this unappealing - and not just for a small AC/20 barrel. A great deal of MWO's appeal is visual; the design and artwork of the game's Battlemechs are one of its strongest selling points.
Thus far, 'mechs which have undergone this treatment have always lost visual appeal. Some have lost quite a lot (the Catapult) and really need to be revisited. It seems to me that the retrofits are not being delivered to the standards of art design and appeal that the original designs were delivered with. This is a much less appealing Centurion than the first model.
Granted, making the weapons modular is a design challenge, and it takes time and resources to refit these assets. However, we've seen with the Clans that it is possible to be modular and appealing at the same time. I'd very much like to see that standard of art direction applied to the retrofits - even if it takes more time.
If that isn't possible due to resource limitations, I'd like to see the original geometry made available as a selectable option. I'd much rather drive a big-barreled K2 or small-box Cat or missile door Cent than he new retrofitted version.
Ideally, the old geometry (and new options) could be made available as store purchases to allow us to customize the looks of our 'mechs even further - but I realize that option lies much farther in the future.
Couldn't agree more with this sentiment. If necessary, make the entire lower arm change depending on what's inside. If there's an AC/LB10/20 in there, make the arm use the model from the main cannon that it's traditionally used. Bolt on the MGs or AC2s to the sides if you have to.

Really, WHY

CN9-A (with AC/10)
CN9-AL (with dual LLs)
CN9-D (with LB10-X and MG)
I'm not entirely sure I like the new Tigerstripe camo (in fact, I don't like it at all - it looks like some WWII German battleship camo, not tiger stripes), and as I feared the new gun geometry looks plain bad.
Do it right, PGI, or don't do it at all - ever heard of that one?

I just hope they learned a lesson here and don't butcher the dragon gun arm like they did with the cent.

I guess I'm the only one that thinks the post patch Centurion looks better in all these scree caps?

I like the old one better, the new one has way too much zig-zag going on, it's too noisy.

I like it too.
Plus PGI has already stated that the AC 20 barrel does not work right atm (Its too small for their liking) if I remember right. They are more than likely going to tweek it here soon. Least I hope so.
But the Cent looks cleaner and better to me. Just wish the Animations were touched on a bit.
Plus gameplay wise, the new arm is harder to hit so you can keep that main weapon alive longer lol

Sort of... the arm is in the same place, but the barrel is higher (the old barrel is centered, the new ones are above/below the centerline).
Just grab a ruler (or anything straight) and hold up against the pictures you'll see what I mean

Well, I'm not grabbing a ruler.. but I see what you mean. Is it just possible the arm is pointed higher instead?

The new lower arm is also a bit smaller than the old. Needs a tad less upscaling than the weapons, but still needs it.

It's like a 1964-1966 Ford Mustang. Wanted one really bad when they first came out (Yes, whippersnappers, I'm that old). Finally got to drive one. It drove like a Ford Fairlane, with a really, really badass acceleration curve. Most of the cars I drove for SCCA competition were designed to be sports cars, and could beat the Mustang in anything but a drag run. Finally drove a Superbird that nearly went to lightspeed. *That* was power. Affordable power. Only the V-12's, or other exotica could touch one for speed and acceleration.
Sex appeal, but a one-night stand. Prepare for the morning after...
I drive a Corolla now, and I'm happy.

What's really possible is that the 'mechs are pointed in different directions. The "before" and "after" shots were taken on different occasions.
As for the current ones looking better - well, they should. The textures are about twice the resolution now.
Too bad that only lets us see the misshapen gun arms better

I do get why people react to such, but... I'm not a form over function kind of guy.
