Don't get me wrong, love the tournies, but this could have been better thought out?

I think it would be interesting if the system would scale a benefit to participants based on their contribution to the event (using whatever appropriate metrics). This way, people that participate more heavily get a little more than someone like me that will contribute very little overall (as I only play a few matches a day at most).
I think that would better incentivise people playing more during the event without penalizing people unable to play many many matches per day. Then the discount could only be applied (in general) to participants during the event, with their participation amount scaling up the discount at some arbitrary rate.

I feel this is a test for some kind of CW functionality of dynamic mech prices....

Or will this lower the price of the Stormcrow? If so then I am gonna play hard.

There, I fixed it.
More seriously, I must admit that I'm pretty happy the sale is not only when using but too. Thank you for that. If I count correctly, it will bring the Stormcrow to about 5.5 millions , right?

PGI2: Then let's scrap all personal rewards until they learn to no expect free stuff every weekend.
PGI3: Sounds good. Let's do that.

Guess they can't always have worthwhile prizes. Leaves me free to just play as usual however, with no incentives to worry about, so that's a plus.

'Meeting match objectives over the weekend will drive down the MC and C-Bill price of the Stormcrow and Shadowhawk chassis' as well as Mechbays'

I'll be surprised if more than 5% of the player base makes it over the 15% discount, and then, woopie die ******* doo.... a 20% discount on 2 mech's variants and mech bays....
This is not setting the bar low... this is setting the bar high and than realizing it's for a limbo dance and you're ********.

Sooo.... you're self destructing through all your mechs as fast as possible?
You are reading it wrong. Points are for all matches played across the player base.

Got it... I skimmed, guilty as charged for using the internet normally and evading filler text blocks.
This should be the 1st sentence under details.
"The participation of the entire MWO community will help decide the value of these items during a 4-day sale event starting October 21s"
I guess it's better than a kick in the teeth.
But really, they should put all the Tier 5 mechs on sale so people can stockpile for the November quirk patch.
