I had the problem too, crashing at mechbay. This fixed it for me : Go to NVidia control panel and change the settings for the game. I think changing the graphics processor is what did it.

Thanks, will try that! I hardly ever ever crash in any other game so I'd be surprised if it's unrelated to MWO.

Right, wrong or indifferent... MW:O tends to really tax systems like no other game and thus exposes chinks in the armor.

It's easy to draw the conclusion that MW:O is causing the system instability and abstractly... it is. That said, all it's doing is causing failure in a sub-system that has not quite yet been pushed to it's break-point.

Video card heat issues / case cooling deficiencies, bad memory and sub-par power-supply issues seem to be the most prevalent chinks MW:O exposes...

I played MWO on a windows 8 Machine for about 3-4 months. Then a few months ago it started crashing every time it was loading the mech lab. Exchanged about 20 emails with tech support, and nothing they suggested worked. Finally gave up. After several months Idecided to upgrade my hd to a ssd (for other reasons. And chose to install win 7 64. Downloaded and patched MWO, and it is doing the exact same thing. I've tried multiple OS's, All tech support advice, and endlessly searched the forum for fixes. I've come to the conclusion that this game probably doesn't work for anyone other than admins, and people with a doctors degree in computer science... [redacted] Please do something about this! Make this game PLAYABLE!

1 check your hardware, if you dont know how to do this ask and i will walk you through it.

2 make sure your video card is really up to par. i get around 50%-80% usage on max settings with a gtx 660 and 40-80fps on avg so any newer decent card will do nicely. I say this because you noted you have a windows 8 machine, im just assuming its a laptop. so on this note post your system specs so we can make sure you can actually run the game properly.

3nd make sure ALL your drivers are up to date, even better make sure you run beta drivers if you can for your vid card. i have seen this game literally crash/fail to start or look craaaaazy like my gpu was broken for no other reason then my drivers weren't up to date. don't forget to check your chipset drivers as these can affect alot more then most people realize. don't use the default drivers that windows install uses, go and find the most recent ones and update them as often as they are released.<- im 90% certain that this is the root cause of your problems.

4 if your running anti virus make sure its not conflicting, avast has some known issues with this game.

5 if your using any kind of fancy firewall to let mwo talk to the servers or try turning it off

6 ur usin legit copies of windows right? if not make sure there are such things as "bad" iso's floating around so i advise everyone to run a legit copy.

7 make sure all windows updates are installed. the client uses IE protocols for some functions and wont work right without most/all windows updates installed.

8 try a clean install, windows first next install drivers then install all windows updates then install MWO and see if a fresh install helps.

9 th let me know how it goes so i can help you troubleshoot your problem. but again post your specs plx :)
