Hey guys....Played MW4 and am enjoying MWO. Never was really involved in the lore though. When I joined I chose the Davion faction because I liked the name and the avatar. A noob thing to do I'm sure; however, since I wasn't into the lore, I never really understood what meaning this had. Now, I am to understand that your alignment in the game is really going to mean something with CW coming out. I read up on Sarna a little bit about the IS and Clans. Can someone, please explain or point to a resource that explains what impact this will have on my gaming in MWO and what I can expect my alignment will mean in terms of gameplay and benefits or lack thereof? Any help is greatly appreciated! This community is always very helpful!

For right now it will determine which mechs you can use in Community Warfare. Right now it will be really general and broad. Basically Davion being and IS house you will only be able to use IS mechs for CW.
Now they have talked about rewarding people for using lore appropriate faction mechs. So a Kurita pilot would get some sort of reward for using a Dragon which is a Draconis Combine mech. This means you would always be able to use other IS mechs but you might get more C-bills or XP in one appropriate to your faction.

We know this, and not much else at this time:
In CW matches IS factions will only be able to use IS 'Mechs, and Clan factions will only be able to use Clan 'Mechs. There are no 'Mech restrictions based on specific House or specific Clan, though.
As far as rewards, they haven't said much, but it sounds like you'll be able to buy faction-based cammos, colors, decals, and perhaps other things, using the Loyalty Points you accrue as you fight for your faction.

Won't really know until they release CW.
Once that releases, I can see tons of things they could do to make faction choice very important including such things as rewards for how well your faction is doing in CW, specific campaigns that might be only available to specific factions, discounted costs on certain mechs, etc, etc, etc.
Till then though, faction matters exactly zero.
